What we can’t put right

In fairness, there are a few things sealant will not fix:

  • Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
  • Movement in a stud wall or floor
  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind

If in doubt, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we seal

  • Bathroom floors
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Tiled floors
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Shower walls

How we handle regrouting in Hatford

Grout fills the gaps between tiles, and sealant is what goes along the bath, tray or worktop. When grout cracks or washes out, water has a way in behind the tiling. Our job is to rake it out and put new grout in, then reseal the corners and edges. If you have old grout in a dated colour and splashback grout that has darkened, we can help, whatever the surface.

Being in a small place like Hatford makes no difference to the job itself: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right with it in that time, tell us and we will put it right.

How the job changes by surface

Shower walls

A shower wall is soaked daily, so its grout takes the most punishment. It’s often the first place grout washes out.

Corners and edges

Where tiles meet a bath, tray or worktop, the joint is sealed. Grout there would crack.

Leave it or put it right?

With regrouting, your tiles stay where they are. Retiling means stripping the walls, making good and choosing new tiles, and the room is out of use for longer. When the tiles are fine, it’s the sensible first step. In a small place like Hatford, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all make a difference, and we will explain the quote if you ask.

Your questions about regrouting in Hatford

Is Hatford in your area for regrouting?

Yes, Hatford is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job.

Will you come out to Hatford?

Yes. Hatford is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

How much does regrouting cost in Hatford?

The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Call for a quick quote and we’ll talk you through it.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.

Is it possible to regrout only the shower area?

Yes. We’ll look at the rest of the room too and let you know if more needs doing.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

We work from Crawley. We cover Hatford and the rest of Oxfordshire, along with the rest of our area.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

Generally, yes. Corners and edges need flexible silicone, and it makes sense to renew both together.

What guarantee comes with the work?

You get our 12-month guarantee on every job. We’re also fully insured.

Landlord and commercial work in Hatford

Letting agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we’ll give you a quote.

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

Quotes for regrouting in Hatford

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:

  • The product the joint needs
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • The number and length of the joints
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved

Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You will know the price before we begin.

What we need to know

Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:

  • The address or postcode of the job
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel

Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location, and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help us understand the job, and we’ll come back to you with a quote.

How it works

We bring everything the job needs with us, so you don’t need to buy or prepare anything. After a quick look at the joints together, we protect the area and start. It normally takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Somewhere like Hatford needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
  5. Internal corners and edges are resealed.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before
  • Tell us if parking is tricky

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
  • Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
  • Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly

If a tile starts to feel loose, get it looked at early. Movement will crack the new grout and lets water in.

Fixing grout early is a small job. Left, the same problem can let water through so it’s worth dealing with as soon as you spot it.

Hatford homes and their sealant

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

If you look after a building such as Stanford in the Vale Church of England Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. In the older streets around Holy Trinity Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

Hatford is about 6 miles north-west of Wantage, in Oxfordshire. Hatford gets the same service as everywhere we cover: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee.
