Our regrouting service in East Sussex
If you’ve been scrubbing grout that won’t come clean, the discolouration has usually soaked into the grout. New grout is the fix that lasts, and it’s a chance to change the colour too. We’re often asked to deal with gaps where the shower grout has gone and good tiles let down by tired grout, across bathroom wall tiles, bathroom floors and shower walls.
We work through the job in order: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area and we leave things clean and tidy.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
What you will pay
What it costs depends on how much there is to do, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts.

Local landmarks in Eastbourne
Typical jobs here are in homes near St Andrew, Princes Park and Stafford Junior School and the streets around them. Other local landmarks include The King's Arms Public House (0.9 miles south-east), WMG Academy for Young Engineers (1.5 miles south-west) and Ratton School (1.1 miles west). The nearest railway station is Hampden Park station, about 0.7 miles north-west of the centre. A little further out are Pevensey Castle (3 miles north-east) and Royal Sussex Regimental Museum (1 mile south-east). The countryside around Eastbourne includes Combe Hill.
Bathrooms and kitchens across East Sussex
From Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill-on-Sea to its smaller places, homes across East Sussex have bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Sealant and grout wear out in all of them, whether it’s a family bathroom, a rented flat or a hotel en suite.
The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, but outdoor sealant still needs a dry day and clean surfaces, so outside work in East Sussex is planned around the forecast. In the coastal parts of East Sussex, the sea-facing side of a building takes the most weather, so they’re often the first to fail. Good preparation and the right sealant help it cope.
Eastbourne: If you live in an older home near St Andrew, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Letting a property close to Hampden Park station? Then stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.
How the job changes by surface
Bathroom wall tiles
We can regroute all the walls in a bathroom, depending on the area. It’s a good time to change the grout colour.
Wet rooms
Wet room grout and sealant need to be in good order. We renew both.
Should I try it myself first?
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
What affects the quote in East Sussex
For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:
- The number and length of the joints
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- Access and height
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we’ll explain what it covers.
Asking for a quote
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- The address or postcode of the job
- What’s wrong with the joints now
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we’ll talk you through what we’d do. When it suits you, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
Common problems we fix in East Sussex
Harsh cleaners and scrubbing wear grout away. Bleach and acidic limescale removers can attack it over time, leaving the joints sunken and rough.
It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Good tiles let down by tired grout
For landlords and businesses
Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.
Letting agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we will give you a quote.
Common questions in East Sussex
Where are you based?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. Our applicators cover East Sussex, along with the rest of our area.
Do I need to be at home?
It depends on the job. Inside work needs someone to give us access.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure your landlord agrees.
Can I do it myself?
Sometimes. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.
Which products do you use?
It depends on the joint: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.
What if some of my tiles are loose?
Tiles that have come away need sorting first. We’ll point them out before any grout comes out.
Will there be a smell?
It depends on the product. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all.
