Ninfield Regrouting

We cover Ninfield for raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old sealant removed completely, joints prepared properly and every job guaranteed for a year.

  • Crumbling grout between the tiles
  • Grout that makes sound tiles look old
  • Floor grout that has worn and darkened

Regrouting in Ninfield

Regrouting in Ninfield, done properly

We check the tiles before any grout comes out. Loose or hollow tiles are pointed out first, since new grout cannot fix a problem underneath. With sound tiles, regrouting is a tidy, lasting improvement. If you are dealing with grout that makes sound tiles look old and a grout colour that no longer suits the room, we can help, whatever the surface.

Homes around Ninfield are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in East Sussex.

What the job involves on each surface

Shower walls

Shower walls are the most common area we regrout. Cracked or missing grout here lets water behind the tiles.

Kitchen splashbacks

The grout by the hob and sink takes most of the mess. We renew the grout and the worktop sealant.

Regrouting around Ninfield

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

If you let a flat or house near Crowhurst station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. In the older streets around The Parish Church of St Mary, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

How the visit works

Most of a good job is in the preparation, and we don’t rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. In a small place like Ninfield, access is usually the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust is cleared from every joint.
  4. We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

How to prepare

  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
  • Tell us about any water getting in
  • Move anything stored near the joints

Advice

What happens if it’s left?

If tiles are loose, regrouting alone is not the answer. We’ll tell you before any work starts so you know what’s involved. On sound tiles, regrouting avoids the upheaval of a retile. Older cottages and farmhouses around Ninfield can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Why us?

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Ninfield, several properties can be quoted together. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs.

We work for letting agents and landlords as well as homeowners. Sealant work between tenants keeps a property looking cared for.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

Signs you need regrouting in Ninfield

Most grout is porous, so it soaks up water, soap and dirt. Over time it stains, softens and starts to crumble and showers that get daily use suffer most.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Shower grout that has worn away
  • Grout in corners that has cracked
  • Stained grout that cleaning won’t shift
  • Floor grout that has worn and darkened

Schools such as Ninfield Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

What to look for in a quote

  • What insurance they hold
  • When the joint can take water or movement
  • Whether VAT is included
  • How the joint is cleaned and prepared

Ninfield questions

Will you come out to Ninfield?

Yes, Ninfield is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Do you work for landlords with property near Crowhurst station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can go on one quote. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the details for a clear quote.

Can I do it myself?

It depends on the job. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.

How long should I wait before showering?

The wait depends on the materials and how warm the room is. We’ll give you a time to follow at the end of the visit.

Will it make a mess?

Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We’re an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes, we can. More than one area can be quoted together.

Do the sealants smell?

Some sealants have a smell while they cure, which fades as it sets. Opening a window helps.
