Mountfield Regrouting
Raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors for homes and businesses in Mountfield and across East Sussex. Fully insured, ARBOMaster approved and guaranteed for a year.
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
What affects the cost of regrouting
For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- The number and length of the joints
- Access and height
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
Helping us quote
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- The address or postcode of the job
- How we’d reach the joints
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and email photos if that’s easy.
Regrouting in Mountfield
We work across Mountfield, regrouting bathrooms, showers and kitchens. The old grout is raked out, the joints cleaned and new grout laid, finished with new silicone at the edges. If you have grout stained black or orange that won’t clean and old grout in a dated colour, we can help.
In a village or hamlet like Mountfield, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, in Mountfield and everywhere else we cover.

What else we do in Mountfield
How the job changes by surface
Bathroom wall tiles
Walls outside the shower get less water but still stain and crack. Regrouting brings them back in line.
Corners and edges
We reseal edges at the same time as regrouting, so the whole area is finished together.
Mountfield questions
I let a flat near Robertsbridge station. Can you help?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can go on one quote. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Do you cover smaller places like Mountfield?
Yes. Mountfield is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Could my grout be a different colour after regrouting?
It can. Because the old grout is raked out, the new colour goes all the way into the joint, not just the surface.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We are fully insured.
Can you regrout if a few tiles are loose?
Regrouting won’t fix loose tiles. We flag any loose or hollow tiles before starting so you know where you stand.
How long will you be here?
As a guide, most jobs take a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Bigger jobs take longer.
Do I need to be at home?
For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
What do you put in the joint?
We choose the sealant for the joint, not the other way round. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference.
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.
For anyone letting property in or around Mountfield, jobs at different addresses can go on one quote. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs, and photos by email help.
How the visit works
Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we do not rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. In a small place like Mountfield, access is usually the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- The old grout is removed to an even depth.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
How to prepare
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- Mention any tricky access

Keeping the joints in good condition
Looking after new joints is easy:
- Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
- Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
- Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
Check the corner silicone now and then. It’s the part that moves, so the sealant there will need renewing in time, long before the grout does.
Grout that stays dark after cleaning is starting to fail. At this point it’s a simple regrout, before the joints open up.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
Mountfield homes and their sealant
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Rented homes near Robertsbridge station change hands often, and clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again. Homes close to The Parish Church of All Saints include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. If you look after a building such as Vinehall School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
