Regrouting in Salehurst
Raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors for householders, landlords and businesses in Salehurst. Fully insured, ARBOMaster approved and guaranteed for a year.
- Good tiles let down by tired grout
- Stained grout that cleaning won’t shift
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
Regrouting in Salehurst, done properly
Regrouting is normally paired with resealing. Grout belongs between tiles, but corners and edges move, so they’re sealed with silicone rather than grout. Doing both at once leaves the whole area sound. We’re often asked to deal with floor grout that won’t come clean and good tiles let down by tired grout, on bathroom floors, wet rooms and tiled floors.
Around Salehurst, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.
Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, large or small.

What we cannot put right
We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what sealant can’t put right:
- A leaking wet room membrane
- Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
- Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)
If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will say what we think.

Salehurst questions
Do you work for landlords with property near Robertsbridge station?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can go on one quote. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.
Do you work in hotels near Salehurst?
Yes. Hotel and guest-house work is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.
Is it messy?
No. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.
Will there be a smell?
Possibly a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
Should I try DIY first?
It depends on the job. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we’re part of it.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is usually more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
Will regrouting fix loose tiles?
Tiles that have come away need sorting first. We will show you which ones at the start.
Bathrooms and kitchens in Salehurst
Salehurst has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Salehurst Church of England Primary School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. Homes close to The Parish Church of St Mary include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

Why act early in Salehurst
Grouting over old grout rarely lasts. It sits thinly on top and soon flakes away, taking any repair with it. Removing the old grout to an even depth lets the new grout key in properly. Older cottages and farmhouses around Salehurst can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are unsure, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll give you an honest view and a quote.

Aftercare tips
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
- Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
- Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
Before we leave, you will know when the shower can be used. Stick to that time, and go gently on the grout at first.
Grout that stays dark after cleaning is starting to fail. At this point it’s a simple regrout, before the joints open up.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

How the visit works
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you. The work normally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, depending on the size of the job. Somewhere like Salehurst needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.
How to prepare
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Let us know about parking restrictions

Common problems we fix in Salehurst
Strong cleaning products and hard scrubbing slowly erode grout. Some bleaches and acid descalers break grout down over time, leaving the joints sunken and rough.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Grout that’s cracking and breaking up
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Grout washed out of a shower
Letting a property close to Robertsbridge station? Then stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.
