Regrouting in Birling Gap
Raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors in Birling Gap, with a 12-month guarantee on every job. Ask us for a quote.
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Old grout in a dated colour
How we handle regrouting in Birling Gap
We take the old grout out to a consistent depth, taking care not to chip the tile edges. The joints are then vacuumed, regrouted and cleaned off, and the corners get fresh silicone. Common call-outs are for grout in a colour the owner wants to change and floor grout that won’t come clean, across bathroom wall tiles, wet rooms and tiled floors.
Somewhere as small as Birling Gap, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

Regrouting around Birling Gap
Birling Gap is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
If you live in an older home near The Parish Church of St Simon and St Jude, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

When to call us in Birling Gap
Harsh cleaners and scrubbing wear grout away. Some bleaches and acid descalers break grout down with repeated use, until the joints are rough and low.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
- Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Grout washed out of a shower
For landlords with property near Eastbourne station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

Your questions about regrouting in Birling Gap
Will you come out to Birling Gap?
Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Do you cover Birling Gap for regrouting?
Yes, Birling Gap is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No, and we never do. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new layer lifts away from the old one. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.
Does someone need to be in?
That depends on where the joints are. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in.
Should I try DIY first?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
Can landlords and businesses book you?
Yes. As well as homeowners, we work for landlords, agents, businesses and hotels across East Sussex.
Could my grout be a different colour after regrouting?
Yes. Many customers do. Darker grout can hide marks, while lighter grout brightens a room.
Do you reseal at the same time?
We normally do. Fresh grout next to old, mouldy silicone would look odd and wouldn’t keep water out.
When something else is needed
We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:
- Tiles that are chipped or split
- Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
If you are not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer.

What affects the cost of regrouting
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- Working hours on commercial sites
- The number and length of the joints
- Access and height
- Mould in or behind the old joints
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You’ll know the price before we begin.
Asking for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- The address or postcode of the job
- The type of property
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
Want a quote for regrouting? Please ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a few details. You’ll know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work begins.
Keeping the joints in good condition
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
- Check the corner silicone every few months
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
Wipe the tiles down after a shower stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Run the extractor fan or open a window so the grout dries between uses.
If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Each shower drives water into the open joints and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.
For landlords and businesses
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works.

Why it’s worth doing now in Birling Gap
Cleaning products may brighten grout for a time, but stains and mould that have soaked in tend to return. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Birling Gap, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
What it costs depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and access to the work. We give a clear quote before work begins.
Why us?
- Old sealant always removed completely
- Anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas
- ARBOMaster approved applicator
- 20+ years of sealant experience

What happens on the day
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we’ll take it from there. The work itself takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room from start to finish. In a small place like Birling Gap, access is usually the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
- The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
- We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
- We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
- The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
