Regrouting in Golden Cross

A bathroom with good tiles can still look worn if the grout has gone. With regrouting, the tiles stay and only the grout is renewed, so there’s no stripping out and no new tiles to choose. If you’re dealing with kitchen splashback grout stained by grease and discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles, we can help, on tiled floors, kitchen splashbacks and wet rooms alike.

Being in a small place like Golden Cross makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

What we are called out for in Golden Cross

Poor ventilation keeps grout damp, giving mould a place to grow. Black marks that come back after cleaning are often in the grout itself.

Common reasons people contact us include:

  • A grout colour that no longer suits the room
  • Splashback grout that has darkened
  • Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
  • Floor grout that has worn and darkened

Rented homes near Pevensey & Westham station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

What to look for in a quote

  • How the colour is chosen
  • How much experience the applicator has

Choosing a sealant specialist

What happens if it’s left?

New grout smeared over the old doesn’t bond well. It sits thinly on top and soon flakes away, taking any repair with it. Raking out to a consistent depth gives the new grout something to hold. Older cottages and farmhouses around Golden Cross can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we will explain the quote if you ask.

Golden Cross questions

Is Golden Cross in your area for regrouting?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Golden Cross is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear quote.

Do you cover smaller places like Golden Cross?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Can you regrout just the shower?

Yes. A lot of our jobs are only the shower, or just the joints that have failed.

Is regrouting a chance to pick a new grout colour?

It can. Because the old grout is raked out, the new colour goes all the way into the joint rather than sitting on top.

What should I tell you?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.

Where do you work from?

We’re based in Crawley, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.

Which products do you use?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, picked for each joint. We will tell you what we’re using and why.

Should corners be grouted or sealed?

We seal corners with silicone. They move slightly, and grout there cracks.

For landlords and businesses

Hotels need rooms back in use, so the work can be planned room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.

We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. Sealant work between tenants is a simple way to keep a property in good order.

What affects the quote in Golden Cross

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:

  • When we can work, for business premises
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • Whether the work is at height
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs. Ask us for a quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

Helping us quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • A few photos by email, if you can

To get a quote, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. You’ll have a clear quote before we start.

Different surfaces, different methods

Shower walls

Shower walls get wet every day, so its grout takes the most punishment. It generally fails first.

Kitchen splashbacks

Kitchen grout collects grease and food splashes. Stained grout is best replaced.

What sealant work cannot fix

New sealant can’t fix everything, and we will tell you before work begins. It won’t solve:

  • Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
  • Tiles that are chipped or split
  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind

If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

How the visit works

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and tell you how long to leave it. The work normally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room, depending on the size of the job. In a small place like Golden Cross, access is usually the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
  2. The old grout is removed to an even depth.
  3. The joints are vacuumed clean.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
