Regrouting in Wallcrouch
Grout fills the gaps between tiles, and sealant is what goes along the bath, tray or worktop. When grout cracks or washes out, water can get in behind the tiles. Our job is to rake it out and put new grout in, then reseal the corners and edges. If you have splashback grout that has darkened and a grout colour that no longer suits the room, we can help, on shower walls, kitchen splashbacks and bathroom floors alike.
In a village or hamlet like Wallcrouch, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

Common questions in Wallcrouch
Will you come out to Wallcrouch?
Yes. Wallcrouch is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
I let a flat near Stonegate station. Can you help?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
Is it OK to seal over old sealant?
No, it will not last. It may look fine at first, but the new layer lifts away from the old one. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.
What information do you need?
The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.
Can I do it myself?
Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
Is the work guaranteed?
All our work carries a 12-month guarantee.
Do you work for hotels and businesses?
Yes, regularly. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area to suit the site.
What does regrouting cost?
Every job is different, so each one gets its own quote. To get one, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a short description of the job.
Keeping the joints in good condition
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:
- Get any tile that moves checked promptly
- Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
Before we leave, you will know when the shower can be used. Please follow it, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.
Cracked grout doesn’t stay cracked for long. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.
What the job involves on each surface
Bathroom wall tiles
Tiles away from the shower stay drier but grout there still discolours. Regrouting brings them back in line.
Wet rooms
New grout in a wet room keeps the surface sound. It cannot fix waterproofing below the tiles.
Honest limits
To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
- A floor or wall that keeps moving
- Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What happens on the day
We bring everything the job needs with us, so you don’t need to buy or prepare anything. Once we have agreed what’s being done, we protect the area and start. It normally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Somewhere like Wallcrouch needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
- We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
- We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
- We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
- Corners and edges are resealed with flexible silicone, not grout.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any tricky access
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints

Common problems we fix in Wallcrouch
Hard water and soap leave a film on grout and stick to it. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, which is when replacing it makes sense.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
Homes close to Shover's Green Baptist Chapel include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
What to look for in a quote
- Is the old sealant removed completely?
- How long the guarantee is
- Whether you can choose the colour
- Which sealant they’ll use, and why
Regrouting around Wallcrouch
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Letting a property close to Stonegate station? Then a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. If you look after a building such as Stonegate Church of England Primary School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Wallcrouch
Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. Several properties can go on one quote.
We also work for property managers and facilities teams. We can quote a run of properties together.
Leave it or put it right?
If tiles are loose, regrouting alone is not the answer. We’ll tell you before we start so you know what’s involved. Where the tiles are sound, regrouting is far less disruptive than retiling. Around Wallcrouch, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we’ll go through it with you.
