Bathroom Resealing across Fife

Our bathroom resealing service in Fife

With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across Fife. We are ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and every job carries our one-year guarantee. We work on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and kitchen worktops & upstands, and the jobs we see most are black spots spreading through the bead and gaps where the bath or tray has moved.

Our applicators work methodically: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. Typically it takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower.

  1. First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. We tidy up and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

What you’ll pay

The cost depends on the amount of work, how hard the old material is to remove and how easy the joints are to reach. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts.

What you get with us

  • We agree the colour with you first
  • White, clear, grey or coloured to suit, where the product allows
  • Rated 4.9 stars on Google
  • Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet

Get a quote

Asking for a quote is easy: tell us what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand, and we’ll come back to you with a quote.

Where we work in Fife

Across Fife, from Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes outwards, we see bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Family bathrooms, rented flats and hotel en suites all need their sealant and grout renewing in time.

Scotland has its own building regulations, and homes here bring their own details: harled walls, sash and case windows and, in the larger towns and cities, tenements. We work across Scotland, including Fife. Along the coast in Fife, window and wall joints facing the sea take the brunt of the weather, and that is where sealant generally gives up first. Good preparation and the right sealant help it cope.

Dunfermline: For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Dunfermline High School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. If you let a flat or house near Dunfermline City station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Fife

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:

  • The type of sealant required
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • Access and height
  • When we can work, for business premises

No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference, and we will explain the quote if you ask.

What to tell us for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • The rough size of the job
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • The address or postcode of the job

Every job is quoted individually, so start by telling us what you need. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details, and pictures are welcome.

Leave it or put it right?

Mould removers can fade the surface of a stained bead, but where mould is inside the silicone it normally comes back. The lasting answer is to remove the bead and start again.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What the cure time is
  • How hidden problems are handled
  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • Which sealant they’ll use, and why

When it is not the sealant

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:

  • A tray or bath that is cracked through
  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint

Landlord and commercial work in Fife

From a single let to a portfolio, the work is the same standard: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a one-year guarantee.

Hotels need rooms back in use, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.

Looking after it afterwards

After the cure time, these simple habits help:

  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
  • Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
  • Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up

Have a look at the joints every few months. Small splits and lifting ends are easy to catch early, and if anything looks wrong, just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Small signs come before a leak: lifting ends, gaps, dark shadows under the bead or a stain downstairs. Any of these means the joint needs attention.

Questions from Fife

How long before the new sealant can get wet?

Around 24 hours is typical, and we confirm the time for the product used. Getting it wet too early can spoil the new joint.

Does someone need to be in?

It depends on the job. Inside work needs someone to give us access, and for outside work we’ll agree access with you when we book.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes, every time. New silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do, as well as homes. We can talk about working times when we quote.

Is it messy?

No. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. We’re an ARBOMaster approved applicator, the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants.
