Quotes for bathroom resealing in Glencraig
Jobs vary more than people expect. The main factors:
- The number of rooms or windows
- The type of sealant required
- The number and length of the joints
- Mould in or behind the old joints
A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you an honest view and a quote.
Asking for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:
- Where the property is
- A few photos by email, if you can
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- The rough size of the job
Every job is quoted individually, so start by telling us what you need. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details.
Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Glencraig
We fill the bath before sealing it. A full bath sits slightly lower than an empty one, so the bead isn’t stretched the first time someone gets in. Quick jobs often leave it out, and it makes a real difference. If you’re dealing with gaps between the worktop and the wall and two layers of silicone, both failing, we can help, whatever the surface.
Being further from a city does not change the work: everything old is cut out, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new sealant or grout goes in. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee in Glencraig and across Fife.

Can I do it myself?
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
Keeping the joints in good condition
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
- Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
- Do not let bottles sit on the bead
Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint and keep hot pans away from the silicone. A dry joint lasts longer.
A few black dots in the silicone soon become a black line. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning normally will not remove it. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.

Do you cover smaller places like Glencraig?
Yes. Glencraig is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
Our base is Crawley. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.
Can I choose the colour of the sealant?
We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. On a worktop we colour-match where the joint shows.
Does the resealing come with a guarantee?
Yes. We give a 12-month guarantee on every job, and we’re fully insured.
What should I tell you?
Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.
What do you put in the joint?
It depends on the joint: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.
Does someone need to be in?
It depends on the job. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in, and for outside work we’ll agree access with you when we book.

How the job changes by surface
Shower trays & enclosures
Water often gets past the wall profile of a shower enclosure. It’s resealed along with the tray joints, following the enclosure maker’s guidance on which side to seal.
Baths
Baths move more than any other fitting, so it’s filled with water before the bead goes on. That way the joint is laid with the bath at its heaviest and is not torn the first time it’s used.
The process
When we get to you, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. Most jobs then take a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. Outside jobs in Glencraig need a dry day, because sealant won’t bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
Before we arrive
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Mention any tricky access
- Move anything stored near the joints

What we’re called out for in Glencraig
Silicone doesn’t last for ever. Daily water, heat and cleaning products slowly wear it down, so its life depends on how the room is used, cleaned and aired.
Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- Water getting behind the bath panel
- Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
- Black spots spreading through the bead
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Lochgelly High School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
Before you book anyone

- Whether the sealant suits the joint
- How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
- Whether all the old sealant comes out first
Bathroom resealing in Glencraig: local notes
In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
Letting a property close to Lochgelly station? Then fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.
