Bathroom resealing across DD6: what to expect
A bead that has gone black, split or come away is worth sorting before it lets water through. A photo of the joints helps when you send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk, and you’ll get a clear quote for bathroom resealing in DD6. We work on sinks & splashbacks, baths and wet rooms, and people most often call us about cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone and a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal.
We bring everything the job needs with us, so you do not need to buy or prepare anything. After a quick look at the joints together, the area is protected and the work begins. Most jobs take a couple of hours for a single bath or shower.
- We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead, including the film left on the tiles.
- Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- We tidy up and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
How we quote
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.
Why choose Mr Mastic
- Every job guaranteed for a year
- A choice of colours where the product allows
- Colour agreed with you before any work starts
- We’re fully insured

Where we work in DD6
From Newport-on-Tay, Tayport and Wormit to its smaller places, homes across DD6 have bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Family bathrooms, rented flats and hotel en suites all need their sealant and grout renewing in time.
Homes in Scotland come with their own details: sash and case windows, harled walls and, in the towns and cities, tenement flats. We work across Scotland, including DD6. Along the coast in DD6, window and wall joints facing the sea take the brunt of the weather, and that’s where sealant usually gives up first. The right product and careful preparation help it last.
Newport-on-Tay: If you let a flat or house near Dundee station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay. If you look after a building such as Newport Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.
How the job changes by surface
Basins & vanity units
Basins take less water than showers, but the joint behind them is splashed every day. Old sealant there often goes black at the corners, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Laminate worktops swell if water gets into the core. A sound joint along the back edge stops that, as long as the worktop itself is firmly fixed.
When it is not the sealant
We’d rather tell you now than do work that won’t last, so here’s what sealant cannot put right:
- A tray or bath that’s cracked through
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, you get the same standard of work: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee.
Hotels need rooms back in use, so the work can be planned room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
Quotes for bathroom resealing in DD6
There’s no set price list. The quote depends on:
- The number and length of the joints
- Whether the work is at height
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- The product the joint needs
There are no prices on our website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Helping us quote
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:
- Whether it has been sealed before
- How we’d reach the joints
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- A few photos by email, if you can
Want a quote for bathroom resealing? Please email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details. We will explain what we’d do and give you a clear quote before we start.
What happens if it’s left?
Running new silicone over the old joint can look tidy for a few weeks, but it will not bond. It lifts, traps water and grows mould behind it.
Questions to ask before you book
- How the colour is chosen
- What preparation is included
- What insurance they hold
- When the joint can take water or movement
Questions from DD6
Can I do it myself?
Sometimes. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. If it doesn’t work out, we can redo it.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. We give a 12-month guarantee on every job, and we’re ARBOMaster approved applicators.
Is it messy?
Not at all. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.
How long before the new sealant can get wet?
After around 24 hours in most cases. You will get the exact cure time before we leave.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Yes, always, and completely. New silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.
How do I get a quote for bathroom resealing in DD6?
We don’t publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: its size, the old material, access and the product needed. You’ll get a clear quote before work begins.
