Our bathroom resealing service in SP11

We fill the bath before sealing it. The weight settles the bath to its lowest point, so the bead isn’t stretched the first time someone gets in. It’s a small step that rushed reseals tend to skip. We work on basins & vanity units, baths and sinks & splashbacks, and common reasons people get in touch are a bead that has pulled away from the tiles and failed sealant on the screen profile.

All our tools and materials come with us in the van. Once we have agreed what’s being done, we protect the area and start. It normally takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.

Bathroom resealing across SP11: local notes

From Andover, Ludgershall and East Anton to its smaller places, homes across SP11 have bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Sealant and grout wear out in all of them, whether it’s a family bathroom, a rented flat or a hotel en suite.

London and the South East have homes from every era, from period terraces to post-war new towns and new estates. The right sealant depends on the age and materials of the building, wherever it is in SP11.

Ludgershall: Schools such as Ludgershall Castle Primary School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. If you live in an older home near Church of St James, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

What we are called out for in SP11

Not every tube in the shop is meant for a shower. Acrylic caulk and general-purpose sealants aren’t designed for a joint that’s wet every day, so they stain, crack or go mouldy before long. A bathroom joint needs anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:

  • Black spots spreading through the bead
  • Failed sealant on the screen profile
  • Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal

How to look after the new joints

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up
  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade

Clean the silicone with care: warm soapy water and a soft cloth do the job. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, because a damaged bead gives mould a foothold.

Worktop joints fail quietly. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, and the board underneath can swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in SP11

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • The type of sealant required
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • Working hours on commercial sites

Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.

What we need to know

Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:

  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • The rough size of the job
  • A few photos by email, if you can

Call for a quick quote, or send an email if you’d rather. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we’ll explain what’s involved.

Why deal with it now?

Sorting it now is quick: the work takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. Left until water gets through, the job can grow to lifting panels, drying out and decorating.

  • Which sealant they’ll use, and why

DIY sealant or a professional job?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in SP11

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We are approved under the ARBOMaster scheme, the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes, we can. The old sealant comes out, the mould is treated, and we reseal with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

How long before the new sealant can get wet?

Generally after around 24 hours. You will get the exact cure time before we leave.

What information do you need?

Only a few details: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. After that, simply ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

What do you put in the joint?

It depends on the joint: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. We use products from Arbo and Everbuild.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?

Yes. Where it’s needed by the sink, we use a food-safe sealant.
