Surface by surface

Sinks & splashbacks

Water getting under the rim of an inset sink can soak the worktop. We reseal the visible edge of the sink where it has failed.

Wet rooms

Not every wet room leak is a sealant problem. We reseal the joints and will tell you if the water seems to be coming from somewhere else.

About our bathroom resealing in Red Post Bridge

Before a bath is sealed, it’s filled with water. The weight settles the bath to its lowest point, so the bead isn’t stretched the first time someone gets in. It’s a small step that rushed reseals tend to skip. If you have cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone and a joint torn by a bath that flexes, we can help, on kitchen worktops & upstands, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units alike.

Around Red Post Bridge, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.

There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job.

Landlord and commercial work in Red Post Bridge

Letting agents and landlords in Red Post Bridge can book us as well as homeowners. Resealing between tenancies is a simple way to keep a property in good order.

If you manage several properties in or around Red Post Bridge, jobs at different addresses can be quoted together. Send us the addresses and the work at each.

DIY versus a professional finish

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Red Post Bridge?

With age, silicone loses its stretch. In kitchens it often shrinks away from the back edge, leaving a thin gap where water and food collect. Hot pans and harsh cleaners do not help.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
  • Water escaping at the shower enclosure
  • Gaps between the worktop and the wall
  • Mouldy sealant that has gone black

If you look after a building such as John Hanson Community School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Questions to ask before booking

  • What preparation is included
  • Which sealant they’ll use, and why
  • Whether they seal over old material or remove it
  • Which colour the sealant will be

When something else is needed

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:

  • A leaking waste, trap or valve
  • Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant

If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Keeping the joints in good condition

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:

  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use
  • Give the silicone its full cure time
  • Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
  • Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead

In a kitchen, do not let water sit along the back of the worktop and keep hot pans away from the silicone. A dry joint lasts longer.

Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning usually will not remove it, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.

Bathroom resealing in Red Post Bridge: local notes

Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

Rented homes near Andover station change hands often, and a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. In the older streets around Church of St Mary, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Red Post Bridge

Will you come out to Red Post Bridge?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Do you cover Red Post Bridge for bathroom resealing?

Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Red Post Bridge is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes, regularly. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. Domestic, commercial and hotel work are all part of what we do.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes, we replace the mouldy bead. Cleaning products may lighten it, but the lasting fix is new anti-fungal silicone on a clean, treated joint. Good ventilation helps keep it away.

Is it messy?

We keep the work tidy. Nearby surfaces are protected.

What information do you need?

Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?

Yes. The old sealant is cut out and the joint degreased, because cooking grease stops silicone sticking, then we reseal in a colour to suit.

What we do, step by step

You do not need to clear the whole room or building before we come, only the area right around the joints. We protect the rest, and the job takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers for a typical job. Somewhere as small as Red Post Bridge, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
