Bathroom Resealing in Wherwell Wood
Bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing for Wherwell Wood, backed by a 12-month guarantee. Ask us for a quote.
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
- A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
What we do, step by step
Once we’re on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. Most jobs then take around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. Somewhere like Wherwell Wood needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead, including the film left on the tiles.
- We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
- We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, generally after around 24 hours.

Bathroom resealing in Wherwell Wood, done properly
Homes in Wherwell Wood have the same weak spots as anywhere else: bath edges, tray joints, basin backs and kitchen upstands. Each one is stripped, cleaned and dried before new silicone goes in. Common call-outs are for leaks into the floor or ceiling below and lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt, across shower trays & enclosures, baths and basins & vanity units.

What else we do in Wherwell Wood
Do you need bathroom resealing in Wherwell Wood?
Not every tube in the shop is meant for a shower. Acrylic caulk and general-purpose sealants are not designed for a joint that’s wet every day, so they stain, crack or go mouldy before long. A bathroom joint needs anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
- Damp behind the bath or under the tray
- Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
- Smears of silicone across the tiles
If you live in an older home near Church of St Peter, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Keeping the joints in good condition
Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. Here’s what we suggest:
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
- Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
- Do not leave water standing on kitchen joints
Check the sealant now and then. Small splits and lifting ends are easy to catch early, so if something does not look right, just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.
Watch for the early signs: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.
What we can’t put right
In fairness, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
- Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Does the resealing come with a guarantee?
Yes. Every job carries our one-year guarantee.
Should I try DIY first?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we’re part of it.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes. Sealing over old sealant is the main reason resealing fails early, so we never do it.
Is there any odour?
Possibly a little. It fades as the sealant cures.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Yes, we can. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.

Can I do it myself?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
Different surfaces, different methods
Basins & vanity units
Vanity units have long, worktop-style joints against the wall. Water that gets behind can damage the unit, so a neat, continuous bead matters.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Laminate worktops swell if water gets into the core. A continuous bead along the back keeps water out, as long as the worktop itself is firmly fixed.
