What we can’t put right
To be straight with you, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:

- Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
If in doubt, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Wherwell: your questions answered
Do you cover Wherwell for bathroom resealing?
Yes, Wherwell is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Andover station?
Yes. We work for landlords and agents as well as homeowners, and several properties can go on one quote. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details for a clear quote.
Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?
Yes. The old sealant is cut out and the joint degreased, because cooking grease stops silicone sticking, then a colour-matched bead is laid.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We’re ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
How long before the new sealant can get wet?
We give you the cure time before we leave, and it’s generally around 24 hours. Using it sooner can damage the bead.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, and it’s something we never do.
Will it make a mess?
No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.
Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?
No, never. A bead laid over old silicone soon starts to come away, because silicone does not bond to silicone. Every trace of the old bead is removed first.
What happens on the day
Once we’re on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. Somewhere like Wherwell needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Let us know about parking restrictions

Advice
How we quote for bathroom resealing
There’s no set price list, because no two jobs are the same. The quote depends on:
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- The number of rooms or windows
- The size of the job
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You’ll know the price before we begin.
What to tell us for a quote
When you contact us, it’s useful to know:
- The rough size of the job
- A few pictures by email, if you can
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we’ll explain how we’d tackle it. Whenever you are ready, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
How the job changes by surface
Shower trays & enclosures
Shower trays are sealed to the wall, and enclosures are sealed to the tray and tiles. Both get soaked every time the shower runs, so each is cut out and renewed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Worktop joints get wet and wiped every day. We seal them in a colour that suits the worktop, so the line doesn’t stand out.
How to look after the new joints
Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. We suggest:
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
- Do not leave water standing on kitchen joints
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
Give the silicone time to cure before it gets wet, following the cure time we give you. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.
A few black dots in the silicone soon become a black line. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.
Common problems we fix in Wherwell
Sealing over old silicone is one of the commonest mistakes we find. Fresh silicone cannot grip the old bead underneath, so it lifts, lets water in and traps mould underneath.
Common reasons people contact us are:
- Damp behind the bath or under the tray
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
Letting a property close to Andover station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Wherwell
Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
Homes close to Church of St Peter and Holy Cross include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Schools such as Wherwell Primary School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.
