What we do, step by step

All our tools and materials come with us in the van. After a quick look at the joints together, we protect the area and start. It normally takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. Parking around Ludgershall is normally easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

Advice

Ludgershall: your questions answered

Do you cover smaller places like Ludgershall?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Can you do bathroom resealing in Ludgershall?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Ludgershall is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job.

How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?

Around 24 hours is typical, and we confirm the time for the product used. Getting it wet too early can spoil the new joint.

Can I do it myself?

That depends on the joint. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.

What information do you need?

Just the basics: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply ring 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?

No. It’s a common reason for reseals failing. We cut out all of the old sealant, clean the joint and start again.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure your landlord agrees.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, a 12-month guarantee. Looking after the joint as we suggest helps it last.

Bathroom resealing around Ludgershall

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Schools such as Ludgershall Castle Primary School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. Homes close to Church of St James include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

What happens if it’s left?

A quick bead over the top of the old one might look better for a while, but it will not bond. It lifts, traps water and grows mould behind it, so the next person has twice as much to remove. Homes in smaller places like Ludgershall can face more weather, and failed outside joints let damp into walls. Indoors, a failed seal lets water into floors and panels as it would anywhere.

Can I do it myself?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • The amount of work
  • The type of sealant required
  • The old material and how stubborn it is

Doing several joints on one visit generally makes better use of the time than several visits. We’ll give you a clear price for the lot.

What we need to know

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:

  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height

The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints, and email photos if that’s easy.

Surface by surface

Baths

Acrylic baths flex the most, and even steel and cast iron baths settle slightly when full. Loading the bath with water before sealing allows for it.

Basins & vanity units

On a basin, neatness shows: so we keep the line tidy and even, finished in a colour that suits the basin.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Ludgershall

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee.

Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too in Ludgershall and across Hampshire. We can quote a run of properties together, and we’re fully insured.

Keeping the joints in good condition

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then
  • Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
  • Wait for the cure time we give you
  • Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead

Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the bead dries out between uses.

Small signs come before a leak: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.
