Thruxton Bathroom Resealing

Our applicators work in Thruxton on bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly and every job guaranteed for a year.

  • Black spots spreading through the bead
  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
  • Smears of silicone across the tiles

Bathroom resealing for Thruxton homes and businesses

Common problems we fix in Thruxton

Plenty of failed sealant has been laid over the top of older sealant. Fresh silicone can’t grip the old bead underneath, so it peels, leaks and hides mould behind it.

Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • Splits where the tray meets the wall
  • Mouldy sealant that has gone black
  • Leaking joints on a shower screen
  • Water getting behind the bath panel

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Peter and St Paul, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

What your quote should include

  • Which sealant they’ll use, and why
  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • How long to leave it before use
  • Who turns up on the day

Bathroom resealing in Thruxton, done properly

Homes in Thruxton have the same weak spots as anywhere else: bath edges, tray joints, basin backs and kitchen upstands. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. We work on kitchen worktops & upstands, sinks & splashbacks and wet rooms, and common reasons people get in touch are a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal and water getting behind the bath panel.

Around Thruxton, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same 12-month guarantee.

What happens if it’s left?

Sorting it now is quick: the work takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. Left until water gets through, the job can grow to lifting panels, drying out and decorating. In a small place like Thruxton, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

What you pay reflects the work, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask a few questions first and agree the price before starting.

What the job involves on each surface

Basins & vanity units

A vanity top has a joint along the wall and sometimes at the sides. If water gets in, the cabinet underneath can swell, so a neat, continuous bead matters.

Baths

Acrylic baths give a little under load, while steel and cast iron baths move less but still settle when full. Filling the bath first allows for that movement.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

You will get a clear quote before any work starts. It’s based on:

  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • Whether the work is at height

There are no prices on our website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote and we will talk you through it.

Asking for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • The rough size of the job

Need a quote? Please phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us about the job. You’ll know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work begins.

Can I do it myself?

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, then guaranteed for a year.

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Thruxton

Is Thruxton in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes, Thruxton is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.

Do you work for landlords with property near Grateley station?

Yes, we work for letting agents and landlords. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before work begins.

Can mouldy silicone be sorted out?

Yes, we replace the mouldy bead. Cleaning products may lighten it, but the lasting fix is new anti-fungal silicone on a clean, treated joint. Airing the room well helps stop it returning.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the product. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little.

What information do you need?

Let us know what needs doing and where, with photos by email if possible. We’ll ask anything else we need to know.

Where are you based?

Our base is in Crawley, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do. Working times can be discussed when we quote.

What colours of sealant can you use?

We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. Where the joint is on show, we match it to the surface.

What we do, step by step

When we get to you, we check the joints match what you told us. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. Most jobs then take two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. Somewhere as small as Thruxton, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Tell us if parking is tricky

When it is not the sealant

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what new sealant will not do:

  • A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
  • A tray or bath that is cracked through
  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant

If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
