Why act early in Chute Forest

Most of the work in a good reseal happens before any silicone goes on: removing all the old sealant, degreasing the joint, treating mould and drying it properly. Skip those steps and even the best silicone fails early. Around Chute Forest, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Ask us for a quote and we will go through it with you.

Bathroom resealing in Chute Forest, done properly

We fill the bath before sealing it. A full bath sits slightly lower than an empty one, so the bead is not stretched the first time someone gets in. It’s a small step that rushed reseals tend to skip. Typical jobs include gaps where the bath or tray has moved and failed sealant on the screen profile, across shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and baths.

For a small place like Chute Forest, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

Chute Forest: your questions answered

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Andover station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before we start.

Will you come out to Chute Forest?

Yes, Chute Forest is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before resealing.

What information do you need?

Tell us what needs doing and where, plus photos if you have them. We will ask anything else we need to know.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes, by replacing the sealant. Cleaning products may lighten it, but the lasting fix is new anti-fungal silicone on a clean, treated joint. Airing the room well helps stop it returning.

Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?

Yes. Kitchen joints get extra degreasing before the new bead goes on, then a colour-matched bead is laid.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. More than one area can go on one quote.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator, and we are fully insured.

What we are called out for in Chute Forest

Mould is the reason many people want their sealant replaced. Bathrooms without good ventilation keep the silicone damp for hours, and mould that has grown into the silicone usually will not clean off.

The most common problems we see are:

  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
  • A joint torn by a bath that flexes
  • Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
  • A bead that has pulled away from the tiles

If you live in an older home near St Mary's Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

What your quote should include

  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What guarantee comes with the work

Our hiring checklist

Can I do it myself?

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use
  • Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead

Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.

Each shower pushes a little more water through a failed joint. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.

Surface by surface

Shower trays & enclosures

There are normally two jobs in a shower: the tray-to-wall joint and the enclosure joints. Both take water every day, so each is cut out and renewed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

Basins & vanity units

A vanity top has a joint along the wall and sometimes at the sides. If water gets in, the cabinet underneath can swell, so the joint is sealed in one unbroken line.

What we do, step by step

When we get to you, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. Most jobs then take around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. Somewhere like Chute Forest needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
