Trusted bathroom resealing in Overton

Can I do it myself?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

About our bathroom resealing in Overton

Across Overton, the joints we reseal are the ones that fail in any home: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. If you are dealing with failed sealant on the screen profile and a reseal done over the top of the old bead, we can help.

In a smaller place like Overton, homes are mostly houses and bungalows rather than flats, some older and some much newer. Bathrooms and kitchens here get the same daily wear as anywhere, and the sealant and grout show it first.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Why deal with it now?

The difference in a professional reseal is mostly what you don’t see: removing all the old sealant, degreasing the joint, treating mould and drying it properly. Without that preparation, the new bead will not last. In a smaller place like Overton, wherever a wall is exposed, a failed outside joint is a real source of damp. Indoors, a failed seal lets water into floors and panels as it would anywhere.

We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Overton

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Letting a property close to Overton station? Then a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

What sealant work can’t fix

Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant won’t put right:

  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
  • Failed grout lines across the wall

If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we seal

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms

Looking after it afterwards

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
  • Give the silicone its full cure time
  • Keep bottles off the sealant line
  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering

Keep bottles and razors off the sealant line, because they trap water against the silicone. A quick squeegee after showering helps the joint dry.

Each shower pushes a little more water through a failed joint. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Resealing early stops it.

How it works

All our tools and materials come with us in the van. After a quick look at the joints together, the area is protected and the work begins. Most jobs take a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. In a smaller place like Overton, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
  • Clear the area around the work
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

Signs you need bathroom resealing in Overton

Older sealant shrinks and hardens. Along worktops it tends to pull back from the wall, leaving a thin gap where water and food collect. Heat from the hob and strong sprays speed it along.

Look out for these signs:

  • Water getting behind the bath panel
  • A reseal done over the top of the old bead
  • Water escaping at the shower enclosure
  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt

Managing a site like Overton Church of England Primary School? Then its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

What to look for in a quote

  • Is VAT in the price?
  • Whether all the old sealant comes out first
  • How the colour is chosen
  • What insurance they hold

10 questions to ask before booking

Overton questions

Is Overton in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes, Overton is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

I let a flat near Overton station. Can you help?

Yes, we work for landlords and agents. Just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear price.

Does the resealing come with a guarantee?

Yes, a one-year guarantee. Looking after the joint as we suggest helps it last.

How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?

One bath or shower is around two hours’ work, including cutting out the old sealant. A full bathroom and kitchen can take most of a day.

When can I use the bath or shower again?

Normally after around 24 hours. You’ll get the exact cure time before we leave.

Will it make a mess?

We keep the work tidy. Nearby surfaces are protected, and the area is left clean when we finish.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes, always, and completely. New sealant won’t bond properly to old, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.

Where are you based?

We work from Crawley. Our applicators cover Overton.

What the job involves on each surface

Basins & vanity units

The back of a basin gets wet every time someone washes. Corners behind basins are where mould tends to start, so it’s cut out and renewed just like a bath joint.

Baths

Acrylic baths give a little under load, while steel and cast iron baths move less but still settle when full. Loading the bath with water before sealing allows for it.
