Bathroom resealing in Grateley, done properly
Across Grateley, the joints we reseal are the ones that fail in any home: bath edges, tray joints, basin backs and kitchen upstands. Each one is stripped, cleaned and dried before new silicone goes in. We are often asked to deal with splits where the tray meets the wall and smears of silicone across the tiles, across wet rooms, baths and basins & vanity units.
Somewhere as small as Grateley, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Grateley
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Schools such as Grateley Primary School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Letting a property close to Grateley station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. If you live in an older home near Church of St Leonard, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Leave it or put it right?
A clean new bead makes a room look cared for, which helps when a home is being let or put on the market. A smeared, uneven DIY bead does the opposite. Older cottages and farmhouses around Grateley can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
Leaving a failed joint generally makes the job bigger, not smaller, as water and mould keep getting in. If you are unsure, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.

When something else is needed
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer.

Aftercare tips
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
- Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
- Squeegee the walls and tray after use
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint and keep hot pans off the bead. A dry joint lasts longer.
Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning normally won’t remove it. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.
Can I do it myself?
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Surface by surface
Basins & vanity units
Basins take less water than showers, but the joint behind them is splashed every day. Old sealant there often goes black at the corners, so it’s cut out and renewed just like a bath joint.
Shower trays & enclosures
A tray that rocks will split any sealant. We check for movement before we reseal, and tell you if it needs re-bedding first.
What else we do in Grateley
How it works
Most of a good job is in the preparation, and we don’t rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. In total, it usually takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. Somewhere like Grateley needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant, including the film left on the tiles.
- We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
- We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
- We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
- Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on

FAQs for Grateley
Will you come out to Grateley?
Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Do you work for landlords with property near Grateley station?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.
How do I get a quote for bathroom resealing in Grateley?
Every job is different, so each one gets its own quote. To get one, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a short description of the job.
Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?
Yes. The old sealant is cut out and the joint degreased, because cooking grease stops silicone sticking, then a colour-matched bead is laid.
Does someone need to be in?
It depends on the job. Inside work needs someone to give us access, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We are fully insured, and we’ve been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
What colours of sealant can you use?
We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. On a worktop we colour-match where the joint shows.
Should I try DIY first?
Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
