About bathroom resealing in AB15
With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across AB15. We’re ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and every job carries our one-year guarantee. We work on shower trays & enclosures, baths and wet rooms, and people most often call us about shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop and failed sealant on the screen profile.
You do not need to clear the whole room or building, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the job takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is in most cases.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Near you in Cults
Locally, jobs take us to homes and businesses close to Hazlehead Park, Cults and Cults Academy, among other places. For rail, the closest station is Aberdeen station, about 3.5 miles north-east. Other landmarks nearby include Blairs College (1.5 miles south) and Woodend Hospital (2 miles north). Open spaces near Cults include Blue Hill and Portlethen Moss.
Where we work in AB15
From Rosemount, Berryden and Queen's Cross to its smaller places, homes across AB15 have bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Sealant and grout wear out in all of them, whether it’s a family bathroom, a rented flat or a hotel en suite.
Our work covers the whole of Scotland, AB15 included. Longer journeys are planned in advance, and outdoor work around the weather. In the coastal parts of AB15, the sea-facing side of a building takes the most weather, so they’re often the first to fail. The right product and careful preparation help it last.
Cults: If you look after a building such as Cults Academy, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Letting a property close to Aberdeen station? Then a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.
What we are called out for in AB15
No sealant lasts indefinitely. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner slowly wear it down, and how long it lasts comes down to use, cleaning and ventilation.
People normally contact us after spotting something like this:
- Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
- Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
When it isn’t the sealant
In fairness, there are a few things sealant will not fix:
- Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
Quotes for bathroom resealing in AB15
For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:
- Any mould that needs treating
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- The amount of work
- Any working-time requirements on site
What it costs depends on the amount of work, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts.
Asking for a quote
To make quoting easier, let us know:
- If someone has resealed it before
- The type of property
- How we’d reach the joints
- The rough size of the job
There’s no standard price list, because every job is different. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To arrange one, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
How to look after the new joints
Aftercare is simple:
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
- Squeegee the walls and tray after use
- Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
- Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
Check the sealant now and then. Small splits and lifting ends are easy to catch early, so if something does not look right, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Worktop joints fail quietly. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, and the board underneath can swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.
Landlords, agents and businesses in AB15
Hotels need rooms back in use, so we plan the work room by room. We’ve worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance.
AB15 questions
How do I get a quote for bathroom resealing in AB15?
Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Ask us for a quote and we will talk you through it.
Can I do it myself?
You can, for simple jobs. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. If it does not work out, we can redo it.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Always. Sealing over old sealant is the main reason resealing fails early, so we never do it.
What do you put in the joint?
Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We’ll tell you what we are using and why.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Of course. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
Does someone need to be in?
Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.
Can you just seal over the old silicone?
No. Fresh silicone can’t stick to the old bead, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. We always take the old sealant out completely.
