Bathroom resealing across G2: what to expect
With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across G2. We’re ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are often asked to deal with a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal and black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off, on sinks & splashbacks, wet rooms and kitchen worktops & upstands.
A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, protect the area around them, carry out the job and tidy away. Most jobs take half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included.
- Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
Pricing in G2
A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.
Why customers in G2 choose us

Where we work in G2
From Garnethill, Anderston and Blythswood Hill to its smaller places, homes across G2 have bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Family bathrooms, rented flats and hotel en suites all need their sealant and grout renewing in time.
Scotland has its own building regulations, and homes here bring their own details: sash and case windows, harled walls and, in the towns and cities, tenement flats. We work across Scotland, including G2.
Blythswood Hill: For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Glasgow Academy, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. If you live in an older home near St Columba Church of Scotland, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.
When it is not the sealant
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
- A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
Quotes for bathroom resealing in G2
For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- Working hours on commercial sites
- The number and length of the joints
Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.
Asking for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- The rough size of the job
- Where the job is, and your postcode
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we will talk you through what we’d do. When it suits you, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Aftercare tips
Good habits help new joints last longer. A few tips:
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
- Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
- Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the bead dries out between uses.
There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Like paintwork, sealant needs renewing from time to time, and renewing it as soon as it fails protects everything around it.
Surface by surface
Shower trays & enclosures
Shower trays are sealed to the wall, and enclosures are sealed to the tray and tiles. Both take water every day, so each is cut out and renewed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Baths
Most bath leaks begin along the long edge, particularly where there’s a shower over the bath. We finish it with a single, even bead of anti-fungal silicone, tooled so water can’t sit on it.
Can I do it myself?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.
FAQs for G2
How do I get a quote for bathroom resealing in G2?
The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Call for a quick quote and we’ll talk you through it.
Do the sealants smell?
It depends on the product. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little, and any smell fades as they cure.
Can mouldy silicone be sorted out?
Yes. We strip the bead, treat the joint and lay new anti-fungal silicone.
Can landlords and businesses book you?
Yes. We work in homes, commercial premises and hotels.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is normally more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
What should I tell you?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. If you can, email a few photos.
What colours of sealant can you use?
You’re not limited to white: white, clear and colours to suit tiles and worktops. We can help you pick when we quote.
