Our bathroom resealing service in G23
It isn’t only bathrooms. Worktop upstands, sink edges and splashback joints all take splashes every day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. We work on wet rooms, kitchen worktops & upstands and sinks & splashbacks, and common reasons people get in touch are a reseal done over the top of the old bead and leaking joints on a shower screen.
A visit follows a simple pattern: we look at the joints together, protect the area around them, do the work and tidy away. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers.
- Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
- Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Where we work in G23
Our bathroom resealing work across G23 covers homes, rentals and businesses, from High Ruchill, Maryhill and Ruchill to the quieter places in between. Wherever the job is, all the old material comes out before anything new goes in.
We work across all of Scotland, from the cities to the islands, and G23 is part of that. Journeys are planned ahead, and outside jobs are booked around the forecast.
High Ruchill: If you live in an older home near Ruchill Parish Church, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Cleveden Secondary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.
Why deal with it now?
Sorting it now is quick: it takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. Wait for a leak and you may be looking at panels off, drying out and redecorating too.

DIY sealant or a professional job?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
When something else is needed
In fairness, some problems need a different trade:
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
- Failed grout lines across the wall
- A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
Different surfaces, different methods
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Worktop joints get wet and wiped every day. The new bead is colour-matched where it shows.
Basins & vanity units
The back of a basin gets wet every time someone washes. Corners behind basins are where mould tends to start, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.
Why it fails
Sealant laid on a damp, dusty or greasy joint never bonds properly. Soap residue, oils and leftover silicone film all get in the way, so a rushed job can start to lift early.
The most common problems we see are:
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
- Water escaping at the shower enclosure
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
- Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
FAQs for G23
Do you come to G23?
Yes. We work in G23 and the rest of Glasgow. To book, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Do you guarantee your resealing?
Yes, for 12 months. Good ventilation and gentle cleaning help it last.
Do I have to be there?
If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?
That depends on the number of joints and the state of the old sealant. For most single baths or showers, allow a couple of hours.
Is white the only colour available?
You are not limited to white: clear, white and colours chosen to suit the room. We can help you pick when we quote.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. We work in offices, washrooms, hotels and other commercial premises. Working times can be discussed when we quote.
Which products do you use?
We choose the sealant for the joint, not the other way round. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we’ll tell you what we are using.
