How bathroom resealing works in G61

Sealant that’s mouldy, cracked or peeling is worth sorting before it lets water through. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a photo of the joints, and we will give you a clear price before any work starts. Typical jobs include two layers of silicone, both failing and gaps between the worktop and the wall, across kitchen worktops & upstands, sinks & splashbacks and wet rooms.

You don’t need to clear the whole room or building before we come, just the space around the work. Everything nearby is protected, and the work takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower for a typical job.

  1. We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
  3. We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. We tidy up and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

What affects the price in G61

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Near you in Bearsden

We work in homes and buildings around Dawsholm Park, Bearsden Academy and Bearsden, among other places. There’s a railway station in Bearsden itself: Bearsden station. Well-known places in the area include Drumchapel Hospital (1.4 miles south-west) and Renfrew Museum (3.5 miles south-west). Open spaces near Bearsden include Castle Hill and Kilmardinny.

Where we work in G61

From Bearsden, Temple and Netherton to its smaller places, homes across G61 have bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Sealant and grout wear out in all of them, whether it’s a family bathroom, a rented flat or a hotel en suite.

The west of Scotland is wetter than the east, but outside joints take plenty of weather everywhere. Sealants for jobs in G61 are chosen with that in mind.

Bearsden: Letting a property close to Bearsden station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Bearsden Academy, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Can I do it myself?

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.

Common problems we fix in G61

Silicone needs a clean, dry surface without any grease to stick to. Soap residue, oils and leftover silicone film all get in the way, so a rushed job can start to lift early.

Any of these means the joints need attention:

  • Gaps between the worktop and the wall
  • Water escaping at the shower enclosure
  • A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
  • Black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off

Honest limits

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what new sealant will not do:

  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)

Aftercare tips

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Keep bottles off the sealant line
  • Give the silicone its full cure time
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade

Check the sealant now and then. A small split or a corner lifting is easy to spot, so if something does not look right, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

A few black dots in the silicone soon become a black line. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.

What affects the quote in G61

We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:

  • How many areas need sealing
  • Any mould that needs treating
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • Which sealant suits the joint

The cost depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and access to the work. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.
