Bathroom resealing in Wokingham: how it works
Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Wokingham. We are fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. We work on sinks & splashbacks, baths and kitchen worktops & upstands, and people most often call us about black spots spreading through the bead and cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone.
The work is kept neat and contained to the joints we’re treating. The job usually takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included.
- We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
- The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.
What you’ll pay
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we will explain what it covers.
What you get with us

- Anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas

Where we work in Wokingham
In Wokingham, bathroom resealing takes in flats, houses, rentals and businesses, from Reading, Woodley and Earley to the quieter places in between. Wherever the job is, all the old material comes out before anything new goes in.
The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, though outside sealant still needs a dry, clean joint, so work across Wokingham is planned around the weather.
Reading: For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Coley Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. If you live in an older home near All Nations Christian Centre, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
Keeping the joints in good condition
A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:
- Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
- Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
- Give the silicone its full cure time
Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint and keep hot pans off the bead. A dry joint lasts longer.
A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, and the board underneath can swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.
Quotes for bathroom resealing in Wokingham
We don’t publish a price list. The quote depends on:
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- The type of sealant required
- The number of rooms or windows
- How easy the joints are to reach
A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
What we need to know
To make quoting easier, let us know:
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- How we’d reach the joints
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Roughly how big the job is
Need a quote? Please phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us about the job. You’ll know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work begins.
Why act early?
Bleach and mould sprays may lighten black marks for a while, but mould that has grown into the sealant tends to return. Cutting it out and resealing with anti-fungal silicone is the fix that lasts.
What your quote should include
- How much experience the applicator has
- When the joint can take water or movement
- What happens if the job turns out different
- Whether they’re fully insured
How the job changes by surface
Wet rooms
In a wet room, the joints between floor and walls take standing water. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, working on the surface joints, not the tanking or drainage.
Sinks & splashbacks
Around the sink, we use a product suited to kitchens, and a food-safe product where it’s needed. The bead is finished smooth so it wipes clean.
Should I try it myself first?
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is.
Your questions about bathroom resealing in Wokingham
Can I choose the colour of the sealant?
Most people choose white or clear, but other colours can be used to suit tiles and worktops. Let us know your preference when you ask for a quote.
Does someone need to be in?
If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. Once we have agreed the job, you do not need to watch us work.
Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?
No, and it’s one of the main reasons reseals fail. The old joint is stripped, cleaned and resealed from scratch.
Do you cover Wokingham?
We do. Our applicators work in Wokingham.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we’re part of it.
What do you put in the joint?
Each joint gets the product that suits it. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice, and we’ll tell you what we’re using.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. Every job carries our one-year guarantee.
