Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in California

With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across California. We are ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and every job carries our 12-month guarantee. We work on baths, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures, and common reasons people get in touch are black spots spreading through the bead and water getting behind the bath panel.

For a small place like California, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

Big or small, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report. We can quote for more than one property at once.

We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. Sealant work between tenants is a simple way to keep a property in good order before the next move-in.

How the job changes by surface

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Water behind a laminate worktop can make the edge swell. A continuous bead along the back keeps water out, as long as the worktop itself is firmly fixed.

Baths

Acrylic baths flex the most, and even steel and cast iron baths settle slightly when full. Filling the bath first allows for that movement.

What we’re called out for in California

Black mould is behind a lot of resealing. Steamy rooms that don’t dry out keep the silicone damp for hours, and once it has grown into the bead, cleaning rarely gets it out.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
  • Gaps between the worktop and the wall
  • Damp behind the bath or under the tray
  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved

Our hiring checklist

How to look after the new joints

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. A few tips:

  • Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
  • Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
  • Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
  • Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead

Give the silicone time to cure before it gets wet, following the cure time we give you. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.

Each shower pushes a little more water through a failed joint. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Resealing early stops it.

What happens on the day

We keep the work tidy and contained to the joints we’re treating, so you can get on with your day. Expect the work to take a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. For a village or hamlet like California, the journey is planned in advance: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Before we arrive

  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

Advice

Common questions in California

I let a flat near Crowthorne station. Can you help?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before any work starts.

Do you cover smaller places like California?

Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Is it worth trying it myself?

It depends on the job. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.

Do you guarantee your resealing?

Yes. We give a 12-month guarantee on every job, and we’re fully insured.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we tidy up before we go.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us.

How do I get a quote for bathroom resealing in California?

We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. We agree the price before any work begins.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, so we never do it.

California homes and their sealant

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

If you live in an older home near Church of St James, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. For landlords with property near Crowthorne station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

What happens if it’s left?

Tired sealant isn’t a reason to replace a bath or shower. A new bead often brings the whole room back, as long as the fittings themselves are sound. If something else is wrong, we will tell you. Older cottages and farmhouses around California can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

The cost reflects the work involved, not guesswork. That’s why we ask a few questions first and agree the price before starting.
