Bathroom resealing in RG40: how it works
A shower joint gets soaked every day. Trays, enclosures, screen profiles and wet room floors all need a flexible, waterproof seal. Each gets a bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone, tooled smooth so water runs off instead of sitting in a ridge. We are often asked to deal with black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off and leaks into the floor or ceiling below, on wet rooms, baths and kitchen worktops & upstands.
A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, do the work and tidy away. It normally takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers.
- We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.

Bathroom resealing across RG40: local notes
Our bathroom resealing work across RG40 covers homes, rentals and businesses, from Crowthorne, Arborfield Garrison and Emmbrook to the quieter places in between. Wherever the job is, all the old material comes out before anything new goes in.
Hard water across most of the South East leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings. For any job in RG40, joints are cleaned back properly before anything new goes in.
Wokingham: Schools such as Walter Infant School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. In the older streets around Church of St Paul, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.
Why deal with it now?
The difference in a professional reseal is mostly what you don’t see: removing all the old sealant, degreasing the joint, treating mould and drying it properly. Without that preparation, the new bead won’t last.

Landlords, agents and businesses in RG40
Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. We can quote for more than one property at once.
If you manage several properties in or around RG40, several properties can be quoted together. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs, and pictures by email help.
Signs you need bathroom resealing
Sealing over old silicone is one of the commonest mistakes we find. Fresh silicone can’t grip the old bead underneath, so it lifts, lets water in and traps mould underneath.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
What affects the quote in RG40
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- The type of sealant required
- The amount of work
- How easy the joints are to reach
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
What to tell us for a quote
You don’t need to know the technical terms. It helps if you can tell us:
- The rough size of the job
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- A few photos by email, if you can
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
For a quick quote, get us on the phone, or send an email if you’d rather. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we will talk you through the work before giving you a price.
Surface by surface
Baths
Baths move more than any other fitting, so we fill it with water before sealing. That way the joint is laid with the bath at its heaviest.
Basins & vanity units
The back of a basin gets wet every time someone washes. Old sealant there often goes black at the corners, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.
