Bathroom resealing across RG7: what to expect
A shower joint gets soaked every day. Tray edges, screen profiles and wet room joints all rely on silicone to stay watertight. Each gets a bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone, tooled smooth so water runs off instead of sitting in a ridge. We are often asked to deal with a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal and sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away, on wet rooms, baths and sinks & splashbacks.
All our tools and materials come with us in the van, so there’s nothing for you to buy. After a quick look at the joints together, we protect the area and start. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers.
- Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.
How we quote
A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.
Why choose Mr Mastic
- Full insurance on every job
- A choice of colours where the product allows
- 4.9 on Google from 180+ five-star reviews
- Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet
How to get a quote
We quote each job on its own, so the first step is telling us about yours. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details and send pictures if you have them.
Near you in Burghfield Common
Around Burghfield Common, our work takes us to homes and buildings near Garland Junior School, Church of St Mary and The Willink School. You will also find The Rising Sun pub (under half a mile south-west) and The Willink School (within half a mile west). The closest station to Burghfield Common is Mortimer station, roughly 2.2 miles south-east of the centre. A little further out are Battle Hospital (4.9 miles north-east) and Thames Valley Police Museum (1.6 miles north-west). The countryside around Burghfield Common includes Hosehill Lake and Fobney Island Wetland Reserve.
Where we work in RG7
From Wokingham, Tadley and Burghfield Common to its smaller places, homes across RG7 have bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Sealant and grout wear out in all of them, whether it’s a family bathroom, a rented flat or a hotel en suite.
The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, though outside sealant still needs a dry, clean joint, so work across RG7 is planned around the weather.
Burghfield Common: If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Letting a property close to Mortimer station? Then a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.
Why act early?
Tired sealant isn’t a reason to replace a bath or shower. Replacing the joint is normally all it takes, as long as the fittings themselves are sound. If we find a deeper problem, you will hear it from us.
Questions to ask before booking
- The length of the guarantee
- How long to leave it before use
- Whether they seal over old material or remove it
- Are they insured?

- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- Any working-time requirements on site

Landlords, agents and businesses in RG7
Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report. Several properties can go on one quote.
We also work for property managers and facilities teams. Several sites can be quoted together, and we’re fully insured.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
How to look after the new joints
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
- Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
Keep water off the new bead until it has cured, following the cure time we give you. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.
A few black dots in the silicone soon become a black line. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning normally won’t remove it. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.
Questions from RG7
Can you just seal over the old silicone?
No, and it’s one of the main reasons reseals fail. We cut out all of the old sealant, clean the joint and start again.
Do you work in RG7?
We do. Our applicators work in RG7.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are fully insured for domestic and commercial work.
What does bathroom resealing cost?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. You will get a clear quote before we start.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, and it’s something we never do.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. We have worked for hotels, offices and other businesses and we’re fully insured.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
