Bathroom resealing in RG19: how it works
A reseal only lasts if the joint is properly prepared. The old sealant is removed to the last smear, after which the joint is degreased and any mould treated. Only once it’s dry does the new bead go on. We work on shower trays & enclosures, baths and wet rooms, and common reasons people get in touch are black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off and leaking joints on a shower screen.
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we’ll take it from there. The job generally takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower.
- Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
- Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
- The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.
What you will pay
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we’ll explain what it covers.
Why book with us
- White, clear, grey or another colour, product permitting
- We never seal over old sealant
- Domestic, commercial and hotel work
- An ARBOMaster approved applicator

Where we work in RG19
RG19 has homes of every age, old and new, with plenty of rented property in places like Newbury, Thatcham and Whitley. Bathroom resealing keeps bathrooms and kitchens watertight and looking cared for.
London and the South East have homes from every era, from period terraces to post-war new towns and new estates. The right sealant depends on the age and materials of the building.
Thatcham: For an older house near a landmark such as United Reformed Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. If you look after a building such as Spurcroft Primary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
Why deal with it now?
The difference in a professional reseal is mostly what you don’t see: removing all the old sealant, degreasing the joint, treating mould and drying it properly. Without that preparation, the new bead will not last.

Sinks & splashbacks
The edge of an inset sink is a common place for water to get under the worktop. Where the sealant around the visible edge has failed, we renew it.
Baths
Acrylic baths flex the most, and even steel and cast iron baths settle slightly when full. Loading the bath with water before sealing allows for it.
What sealant work cannot fix
New sealant cannot fix everything, and we’ll tell you before any work starts. Sealant won’t put right:
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
- A tray or bath that is cracked through
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
Common problems we fix in RG19
No sealant lasts indefinitely. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner slowly wear it down, and how long it lasts comes down to use, cleaning and ventilation.
Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- Black spots spreading through the bead
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Letting agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements and we will quote.
A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance.
Common questions in RG19
How long does a bath or shower reseal take?
A single bath or shower takes about a couple of hours, including cutting out the old sealant. A whole bathroom plus the kitchen may take most of the day.
Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?
Yes, often alongside a bathroom. Where it’s needed by the sink, we use a food-safe sealant.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status.
What do you put in the joint?
Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, chosen to suit the joint. We will tell you what we are using and why.
Is white the only colour available?
Most people choose white or clear, and other colours are available to suit tiles, trays and worktops. Tell us what you’d like when you get in touch.
What does bathroom resealing cost?
Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Call for a quick quote and we will talk you through it.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is usually more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
