Why act early in Headley
Leaving a split or mouldy bead only stores up trouble. Water that gets behind a bath soaks into the floor, the panel and sometimes the ceiling below, turning a small job into a building repair. Around Headley, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, call 0345 464 0079 or email us for an honest opinion and a quote.

Bathroom resealing in Headley
Across Headley, the joints we reseal are the ones that fail in any home: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Each one is stripped, cleaned and dried before new silicone goes in. If you’re dealing with black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off and water escaping at the shower enclosure, we can put it right.
For a small place like Headley, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Headley
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Headley?
Silicone doesn’t last for ever. Daily water, heat and cleaning products slowly wear it down, so its life depends on how the room is used, cleaned and aired.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
- Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
Homes close to Church of St Peter include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.
What to look for in a quote

- Is the old sealant removed completely?

Honest limits
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- A tray or bath that’s cracked through
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.
What we seal
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Basins & vanity units
- Sinks & splashbacks
- Wet rooms
- Baths
How the visit works
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you. The visit itself normally takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower, depending on the size of the job. Somewhere as small as Headley, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.
How to prepare
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Move anything stored near the joints
Getting a quote

Advice
Keeping the joints in good condition
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
- Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
- Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
Treat the new bead gently when you clean: a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth is enough. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, because a damaged bead gives mould a foothold.
Watch for the early signs: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. Any of these means the joint needs attention.

Headley: your questions answered
Is Headley within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Can you do bathroom resealing in Headley?
Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Headley is part of that. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job, and we’ll send you a clear quote.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Only a few details: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. After that, simply ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?
Yes, often alongside a bathroom. Next to the sink we use a food-safe product where it’s needed.
Can new silicone go straight over the old?
No. Fresh silicone cannot stick to the old bead, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old sealant comes out first.
What colours of sealant can you use?
There’s a choice: white, clear and colours to suit tiles and worktops. We can help you pick when we quote.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, so we never do it.
What do you put in the joint?
It depends on the joint: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. We use products from Arbo and Everbuild.
