Our bathroom resealing service in RG18
A reseal only lasts if the joint is properly prepared. The old sealant is removed to the last smear, then the joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould. New silicone goes on only when the joint is fully dry. Typical jobs include a joint torn by a bath that flexes and leaks into the floor or ceiling below, on baths, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures.
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The job generally takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
What you’ll pay

How to get a quote
Getting a quote is simple: let us know what needs doing and where and its rough size. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand, and we’ll take it from there.
Near you in Hermitage
Locally, jobs take us to homes and businesses close to The White Horse pub, Hermitage Primary School and Holy Trinity, among other places. For rail, the closest station is Newbury Racecourse station, about 4 miles south. Other landmarks nearby include Hampstead Norris Castle (2.4 miles north-east) and West Berkshire Community Hospital (3.3 miles south). For a walk, there’s Snelsmore Common.
Bathroom resealing across RG18: local notes
From Newbury, Thatcham and Shaw to its smaller places, homes across RG18 have bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Family bathrooms, rented flats and hotel en suites all need their sealant and grout renewing in time.
London and the South East have homes from every era, from period terraces to post-war new towns and new estates. The right sealant depends on the age and materials of the building, wherever it is in RG18.
Hermitage: For an older house near a landmark such as Holy Trinity, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. If you let a flat or house near Newbury Racecourse station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.
Should I try it myself first?
Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
When it isn’t the sealant
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- A leaking waste, trap or valve
What we’re called out for in RG18
The wrong product fails fast. Decorators’ caulk and all-purpose sealants are not made for constant wetting, so they stain, crack or go mouldy before long. A bathroom joint needs anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
The most common problems we see are:
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
- Damp behind the bath or under the tray
How the job changes by surface
Wet rooms
If a wet room leaks, the cause may be the tanking or the drain rather than the joints. We reseal the joints and will tell you if the water seems to be coming from somewhere else.
Baths
The long joint down the side of a bath is where most leaks start, particularly where there’s a shower over the bath. It gets one smooth bead of anti-fungal silicone, tooled so water can’t sit on it.

Questions from RG18
How do I get a quote for bathroom resealing in RG18?
The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Ask us for a quote and we will talk you through it.
Can tenants book the work?
Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
Can I choose the colour of the sealant?
White, clear and a range of colours are available. On a worktop we colour-match where the joint shows.
Which products do you use?
Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Yes, every time. New silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.
Will it make a mess?
We keep the work tidy. Nearby surfaces are protected, and we clear up when we are done.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes, a 12-month guarantee. Looking after the joint as we suggest helps it last.
