Regrouting in Hermitage
Raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors for householders, landlords and businesses in Hermitage. Fully insured, ARBOMaster approved and guaranteed for a year.
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
How we handle regrouting in Hermitage
We check the tiles before any grout comes out. Loose or hollow tiles are pointed out first, since new grout cannot fix a problem underneath. Where the tiles are sound, regrouting gives the area a new lease of life. If you have grout in corners that has cracked and cracked or crumbling grout lines, we can put it right, whatever the surface.
In a village or hamlet like Hermitage, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee in Hermitage and across West Berkshire.

What happens on the day
Once we’re on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. Most jobs then take anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Somewhere as small as Hermitage, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts

Advice
Also in Hermitage
What affects the cost of regrouting
For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:
- Whether the work is at height
- How many areas need sealing
- Any mould that needs treating
- Working hours on commercial sites
What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we ask about the job first and give you a clear quote before we start.
Helping us quote
When you call or email, these details help:
- How we’d reach the joints
- The type of property
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
Want a quote for regrouting? Please ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us about the job. We’ll explain what we’d do and give you a clear price before any work starts.
Honest limits
Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what new sealant will not do:
- Tiles that are chipped or split
- A leaking wet room membrane
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
If in doubt, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will say what we think.
Surfaces we seal

- Shower walls
Can I do it myself?
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
What we are called out for in Hermitage
Poor ventilation keeps grout damp, and damp grout is where mould grows. Black marks that come back after cleaning are often in the grout itself.
It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:
- Floor grout that will not come clean
- Shower grout that has worn away
- Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
In the older streets around Holy Trinity, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

Different surfaces, different methods
Kitchen splashbacks
Kitchen grout collects grease and food splashes. Stained grout is best replaced.
Shower walls
A shower wall is soaked daily, so grout there works hardest. It normally fails first.
Hermitage homes and their sealant
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
For landlords with property near Newbury Racecourse station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again. Schools such as Hermitage Primary School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Landlord and commercial work in Hermitage
We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. Sealant work between tenants keeps a property looking cared for before the next move-in.
Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance.
Hermitage questions
Is Hermitage in your area for regrouting?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Hermitage is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job, and we’ll send you a clear quote.
Will you come out to Hermitage?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
How long will you be here?
That depends on the amount of work, but as a guide it takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. We will give you a better idea when we quote.
Will there be a smell?
There can be a smell while the sealant cures, but it fades. Ventilation helps.
Should I try DIY first?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. Then ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
Is it messy?
Not at all. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned.
