How bathroom resealing works in RG6
Showers work their sealant harder than baths. Tray edges, screen profiles and wet room joints all rely on silicone to stay watertight. Each gets a bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. We work on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms, and people most often call us about gaps where the bath or tray has moved and sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away.
We work through the job in order: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included.
- We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant, including the film left on the tiles.
- We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
- We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.
What affects the price in RG6
Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.

How to get a quote
It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we’ll talk you through what we’d do. Whenever you are ready, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
Local landmarks in Reading
Around Reading, our work takes us to homes and buildings near Eurospeak Language School, University of Reading library and All Nations Christian Centre. Also close by are Former Kennet Arms (within half a mile east), Kendrick School (0.6 miles north-east), Coley Primary School (within half a mile north) and Eldon Square (0.9 miles east). For rail, the closest station is Reading West station, about 0.7 miles north-west of the centre. A little further out are The Oracle (within half a mile north-east) and Berkshire Medical Heritage Centre Museum (0.8 miles east). Green spaces nearby include Sonning Hill and Longwater.
Bathrooms and kitchens across RG6
RG6 has homes of every age, old and new, with plenty of rented property in places like Reading, Woodley and Earley. Bathroom resealing keeps bathrooms and kitchens watertight and looking cared for.
London and the South East are among the drier parts of the UK, but outdoor sealant still needs a dry day and clean surfaces, so outside work in RG6 is planned around the forecast.
Reading: If you let a flat or house near Reading West station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. In the older streets around All Nations Christian Centre, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
How we quote for bathroom resealing
We don’t publish a price list, because jobs vary so much. The quote depends on:
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- How easy the joints are to reach
- The old material and how stubborn it is
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all make a difference, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.
What to tell us for a quote
When you call or email, it’s useful to know:
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- If someone has resealed it before
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
For a quote, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. You will have a clear quote before we start.
Why act early?
Leaving a split or mouldy bead only stores up trouble. Water that gets behind a bath soaks into the floor, the panel and sometimes the ceiling below, turning a small job into a building repair.
Questions to ask before booking
- What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
- What the quote includes, VAT included or not
- What the cure time is
- Whether the sealant suits the joint
Different surfaces, different methods
Shower trays & enclosures
A tray that rocks will split any sealant. We check for movement before we reseal, and if the tray needs refixing, we will say so.
Basins & vanity units
On a basin, neatness shows: the bead is right in front of you, so it’s tooled cleanly and evenly, finished in a colour that suits the basin.
Can I do it myself?
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.
When it is not the sealant
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
- Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
- A tray or bath that’s cracked through
RG6 questions
Do you work for letting agents?
Yes, regularly. Several properties can be quoted together.
What colours of sealant can you use?
We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. Where the joint is on show, we match it to the surface.
Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?
Yes, often alongside a bathroom. Where it’s needed by the sink, we use a food-safe sealant.
Are you insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured.
Do you come to RG6?
Yes, we do. RG6 is part of the area we cover, and the service is the same as everywhere else.
How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?
The surface skins over fairly quickly, but the bead needs longer to cure right through. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or follow the cure time we give you.
How do I get a quote for bathroom resealing in RG6?
We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: its size, the old material, access and the product needed. We agree the price before any work begins.
