Our bathroom resealing service in GU23

Kitchens need the same care as bathrooms. The joint between worktop and wall, the edge of the sink and the bottom of the splashback all take splashes every day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. Kitchen joints get a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows. We work on sinks & splashbacks, basins & vanity units and wet rooms, and people most often call us about mouldy sealant that has gone black and shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop.

When we get to you, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.

When it isn’t the sealant

In fairness, some problems need a different trade:

  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • Failed grout lines across the wall
  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded

Looking after it afterwards

Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. We suggest:

  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
  • Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead

Mould needs damp, so keep the room aired. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.

A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Left alone, it soaks into the floor, the wall behind the tiles or the ceiling below. Resealing early stops it.

How the job changes by surface

Baths

Most bath leaks begin along the long edge, especially under a shower. We finish it with a single, even bead of anti-fungal silicone, tooled so water can’t sit on it.

Wet rooms

If a wet room leaks, the cause may be the tanking or the drain rather than the joints. We check the joints and say so if the fault looks to be elsewhere.

Common questions in GU23

Should I try DIY first?

That depends on the joint. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs.

How long will the resealing take?

It takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. We will confirm how long your job needs when we quote.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. Full insurance covers our work.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint before resealing.

Can you just seal over the old silicone?

No, never. Sealing over the top looks fine for a few weeks, then lifts. We remove the old bead completely before resealing.

Where are you based?

Our base is in Crawley, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.
