Bathroom resealing across KT24: what to expect
Kitchens need the same care as bathrooms. Worktop upstands, sink edges and splashback joints all take splashes every day, and water that gets into the back edge of a worktop can swell the board. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. We work on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms, and people most often call us about a joint torn by a bath that flexes and sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away.
Most of a good job is in the preparation, so that is where we spend the time. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. In total, it usually takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.
How we quote
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all make a difference, and we will explain the quote if you ask.

Where we work in KT24
From East Horsley, West Horsley and Little Bookham to its smaller places, homes across KT24 have bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Family bathrooms, rented flats and hotel en suites all need their sealant and grout renewing in time.
From Victorian terraces to post-war new towns and modern estates, homes across the South East and London cover every era. Each needs the right sealant for its age and materials, wherever it is in KT24.
East Horsley: In the older streets around Church of St Martin, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. For landlords with property near Horsley station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.
Why act early?
Fresh sealant smartens a bathroom or kitchen with very little disruption, which helps when a home is being let or put on the market. A smeared, uneven DIY bead does the opposite.
Questions to ask before booking
- What the cure time is
- What insurance they hold
- Whether the sealant suits the joint
- What guarantee comes with the work
When it is not the sealant
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:
- Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
- A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Hotels need rooms back in use, so the work can be planned room by room. We have worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance.
Common problems we fix in KT24
Sealant laid on a damp, dusty or greasy joint never bonds properly. Traces of soap, bath oil and old sealant stop it gripping, so a rushed job can start to lift early.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
- Black spots spreading through the bead
- Water getting behind the bath panel
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
Call for a quick quote. The main things that affect it are:
- How easy the joints are to reach
- The amount of work
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.
What to tell us for a quote
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- Roughly how big the job is
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- If someone has resealed it before
- Whether it’s a home or a business
There’s no standard price list, because every job is different. Instead, we give you a clear price for your job. To get started, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
KT24: your questions answered
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before resealing.
How long does a bath or shower reseal take?
Allow a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. We will confirm how long your job needs when we quote.
Can mouldy silicone be sorted out?
Yes, by replacing the sealant. Sprays can fade the marks, but cutting it out and resealing is what lasts. Airing the room well helps stop it returning.
Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?
Yes. Kitchen joints get extra degreasing before the new bead goes on, then a colour-matched bead is laid.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. We are an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes, we can. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.
