How bathroom resealing works in CT14
Before a bath is sealed, it’s filled with water. The weight settles the bath to its lowest point, so the new joint is not pulled apart the first time it’s used. It’s a small step that rushed reseals tend to skip. We are often asked to deal with water escaping at the shower enclosure and black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off, across kitchen worktops & upstands, sinks & splashbacks and basins & vanity units.
A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, protect the area around them, do the work and tidy away. Most jobs take a couple of hours for a single bath or shower.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
What affects the price in CT14
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs. Ask us for a quote and we will go through it with you.
Why book with us
- We leave the area clean and tidy
- An ARBOMaster approved applicator
- Sanitary silicone with an anti-fungal additive in wet areas

Ask for a quote
A good description makes for an accurate quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is.
Local landmarks in Deal
Around Deal, our work takes us to homes and buildings near Betteshanger Park, St Saviour's and Castle Community College, among other places. Other local landmarks include Deal Parochial Church of England Primary School (less than half a mile south-east) and Brickmakers Arms (under half a mile north-east). The closest station to Deal is Deal station, about 0.5 miles north-east of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Kent Museum of the Moving Image (0.6 miles north-east) and Deal Castle (0.5 miles east).
Where we work in CT14
Across CT14, from Dover, Deal and Walmer outwards, we see bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Sealant and grout wear out in all of them, whether it’s a family bathroom, a rented flat or a hotel en suite.
The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, though outside sealant still needs a dry, clean joint, so work across CT14 is planned around the weather. Parts of CT14 are on or near the coast, where wind-driven rain and, closer to the shore, salt air are hard on outside sealant. Joints on seaward walls tend to fail first.
Deal: For an older house near a landmark such as St Saviour's, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Rented homes near Deal station change hands often, and fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.
For landlords and businesses
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works.
We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.
How we quote for bathroom resealing
There’s no set price list, because jobs vary so much. What we look at:
- Any working-time requirements on site
- The type of sealant required
- The size of the job
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
Doing several joints on one visit generally makes better use of the time than several visits. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.
Helping us quote
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- If someone has resealed it before
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
Asking for a quote is easy: let us know what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help us understand the job.
How the job changes by surface
Wet rooms
In a wet room, the joints between floor and walls take standing water. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, working on the surface joints, not the tanking or drainage.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Worktop joints get wet and wiped every day. The new bead is colour-matched where it shows.
Why act early?
The difference in a professional reseal is mostly what you do not see: removing all the old sealant, degreasing the joint, treating mould and drying it properly. Without that preparation, the new bead won’t last.
What your quote should include
- Which sealant they’ll use, and why
- What the cure time is
- How the colour is chosen
- What preparation is included
Honest limits
New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant will not put right:
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
- A leaking waste, trap or valve
CT14 questions
How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?
Normally after around 24 hours. You’ll get the exact cure time before we leave.
What information do you need?
A short description and the location, with pictures by email if possible. If we need more, we will ask.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. We can plan bigger jobs in stages to suit the site.
Can I choose the colour of the sealant?
White and clear are the most common choices, and other colours are available to suit tiles, trays and worktops. Let us know your preference when you ask for a quote.
Which products do you use?
Each joint gets the product that suits it. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we will tell you what we are using.
Does someone need to be in?
For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. Once we have agreed the job, you do not need to watch us work.
How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?
That depends on the number of joints and the state of the old sealant. For most single baths or showers, allow a couple of hours.
