About bathroom resealing in SL5
With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across SL5. We’re fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and every job carries our one-year guarantee. Common call-outs are for gaps where the bath or tray has moved and sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away, across basins & vanity units, wet rooms and sinks & splashbacks.
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you. The work normally takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included, depending on how much there is to do.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
How we quote
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we will explain what it covers.
Why choose Mr Mastic
- Sealant colour chosen to suit
- One-year guarantee on every job
- Arbo and Everbuild products
- Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over
Getting a quote
Getting a quote is simple: let us know what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help us understand the job, and we will come back to you with a quote.
Near you in North Ascot
Around North Ascot, our work takes us to homes and buildings near Ascot Heath Church of England Junior School, LVS Ascot and Garth Hill College. Also close by are Royal Hunt pub (less than half a mile north-east) and Chapel of St Mary and St John (under half a mile north-east). The nearest railway station is Ascot station, about 1 mile south-east of the centre. A little further out are Heatherwood Hospital (0.5 miles south-east) and The Lexicon (2.5 miles west). The countryside around North Ascot includes Virginia Water Lake.
Bathroom resealing across SL5: local notes
Across SL5, from Bracknell, North Ascot and The Warren outwards, we see bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Sealant and grout wear out in all of them, whether it’s a family bathroom, a rented flat or a hotel en suite.
London and the South East are among the drier parts of the UK, but outdoor sealant still needs a dry day and clean surfaces, so outside work in SL5 is planned around the forecast.
North Ascot: Schools such as Ascot Heath Church of England Junior School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. In the older streets around Chapel of St Mary and St John, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
Why it fails
Black mould is behind a lot of resealing. Bathrooms without good ventilation keep the silicone damp for hours, and mould that has grown into the silicone generally won’t clean off.
Any of these means the joints need attention:
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
- Mouldy sealant that has gone black
- Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
Why deal with it now?
You don’t need a new bathroom because the sealant looks bad. A new bead often brings the whole room back. If we find a deeper problem, you will hear it from us.
Comparing quotes
- How hidden problems are handled
- What insurance they hold
- What the cure time is
- Whether you can choose the colour
Honest limits
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:
- Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
- A leaking waste, trap or valve
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
Different surfaces, different methods
Shower trays & enclosures
A tray that rocks will split any sealant. Movement is checked before anything is resealed, and if the tray needs refixing, we’ll say so.
Baths
A bath shifts slightly every time it’s filled, so we fill it with water before sealing. The joint is then laid with the bath at its lowest point and isn’t stretched when it’s used.
What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
The price is agreed before any work begins. It takes into account:
- The type of sealant required
- How much there is to do
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You will know the price before we begin.
Helping us quote
When you contact us, these details help:
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- If someone has resealed it before
- A few pictures by email, if you can
We don’t publish a price list, because every job is different. Instead, we give you a clear price for your job. To arrange one, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
Your questions about bathroom resealing in SL5
Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?
Yes. Mould inside the bead rarely cleans out for good, so we cut it out, treat the joint and reseal with anti-fungal silicone.
Where are you based?
We’re based in Crawley, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.
Will it make a mess?
No. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes, regularly. We can plan bigger jobs in stages to suit the site.
Do I have to be there?
For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Do you work for letting agents?
Yes. We work in homes, commercial premises and hotels.
Can I do it myself?
Sometimes. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. If it does not work out, we can redo it.
