Gutter sealing in North Ascot
Gaps along uPVC fascias and soffits look untidy and can let in water and draughts. They’re sealed in a matching colour where one is available. We work on gutter end caps, soffit joints and gutter joints, and people most often call us about earlier gutter repairs that have peeled off and open joints in fascias and soffits.
Homes around North Ascot range from older cottages to newer houses, with walls and rooflines of every type. Older homes need their gutter and trim joints kept tight, newer ones their movement joints.

What affects the quote in North Ascot
The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:
- The number and length of the joints
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- The product the joint needs
- Mould in or behind the old joints
Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You’ll know the price before we begin.
Asking for a quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- The rough size of the job
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- A few photos by email, if you can
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we will talk you through what we’d do. When it suits you, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
Gutter sealing in North Ascot: local notes
With historic houses such as St Leonard's Hill (about 3.9 miles north-east) nearby, there’s older building stock in the area around North Ascot as well as newer homes. In older buildings, older brick and stone need a sealant that suits them, at the right joint depth. Compared with the north and west, the South East gets less rain, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.
If you let a flat or house near Ascot station, a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside. Homes close to Chapel of St Mary and St John include some older properties, and old and new materials meet at the roofline and walls, which is where sealant earns its keep. If you look after a building such as Ascot Heath Church of England Junior School, larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing.

Common questions in North Ascot
Do you work for landlords with property near Ascot station?
Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details for a clear quote.
Will you come out to North Ascot?
Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Just list everything you need.
Is it possible to stop a gutter joint dripping with sealant?
Most of the time. A sagging or cracked gutter needs more than sealant, and we’ll tell you.
How long does the job take?
It depends on the size of the job, but as a guide it takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access. We’ll tell you when we quote.
Can I do it myself?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.
Can you seal fascia and soffit joints?
Yes. Open joints along uPVC fascias and soffits can be sealed in a colour to suit.
Do the sealants smell?
Sometimes, a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
What happens on the day
There is not much for you to do on the day. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The job generally takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run, including the tidy-up. Parking around North Ascot is generally easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. For outside work, side access and the height of the joints help us plan.
- We look at where the water is coming from and check the gutter isn’t broken or sagging.
- We clean out the joint and take out the old sealant.
- The area is dried so the sealant can bond.
- An exterior or gutter sealant is applied to the joint.
- The run is checked and any debris near the joints is cleared.
Getting ready for the visit
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in

Related advice
DIY versus a professional finish
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
Surface by surface
Garage door frames
Frame-to-brick joints face the weather. An exterior sealant suits them.
Gutter end caps
Drips from a stop end run down the brickwork. It’s a small job to fix.
Leave it or put it right?
A dripping gutter joint keeps wetting the same patch of wall. Over time that can stain brickwork, mark render and encourage damp, so it’s worth sealing early. In an older home around North Ascot, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the sealant itself.
Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.
