Footdee Regrouting
Our applicators work in Footdee on raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old sealant removed completely, joints prepared properly.
- Shower grout that has worn away
- Grout that is cracking and breaking up
- Stained grout that cleaning will not shift
How we handle regrouting in Footdee
Changing the grout colour is a simple way to update tiles. Light grout can go darker to hide marks, or the other way round. Tell us what you have in mind when you ask for a quote. If you’re dealing with gaps where the shower grout has gone and old grout in a dated colour, we can put it right, whatever the surface.
Being further from a city does not change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.
There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, large or small.

What affects the quote in Footdee
Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- The size of the job
- The number of rooms or windows
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- The type of sealant required
Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.
What we need to know
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:
- Whether it has been sealed before
- Where the property is
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
Need a quote? Please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the job. We’ll explain what we’d do and give you a clear price before we start.
When something else is needed
To be straight with you, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:
- Tiles that are chipped or split
- Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
- Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)
If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think before booking.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Wet rooms
- Shower walls
- Bathroom floors
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Tiled floors
How the job changes by surface
Corners and edges
Where tiles meet a bath, tray or worktop, the joint is sealed. Grout in that joint wouldn’t last.
Kitchen splashbacks
Grout behind the hob and sink works hard. We regroute and reseal the worktop joint.
Why it’s worth doing now in Footdee
Once grout cracks, water can get behind the tiling. Left alone, that water can loosen tiles or damage the wall, and then you are looking at retiling. Dealing with it now keeps it small. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Footdee homes and their sealant
Footdee is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.
Managing a site like Torry Academy? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. Rented homes near Aberdeen station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.
Footdee is about 1 mile east of New Aberdeen, in Aberdeen. From the centre of Footdee to the outskirts, regrouting is available for homes and businesses alike. Across Aberdeen, we cover 63 places, and Footdee is one of them.

Footdee: your questions answered
Do you work for hotels and guest houses in Footdee?
Yes, hospitality work, including hotels, is part of what we do. Work can be planned room by room, and out-of-hours working can be arranged.
I let a flat near Aberdeen station. Can you help?
Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we’ll give you a clear quote.
Do you reseal at the same time?
Most of the time, yes. Grout fills tile gaps and sealant handles the moving joints, so we renew both and it’s all in the quote.
Could my grout be a different colour after regrouting?
Yes, regrouting is the time to do it. Mention the colour you have in mind when you email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes, every time. New sealant won’t bond properly to old, so the joint is cleaned back first.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We are approved under the ARBOMaster scheme.
Where do you work from?
Our base is in Crawley, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.
Is there any odour?
Some sealants have a smell while they cure. Opening a window helps.
Keeping the joints in good condition
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
- Keep the fan on after showering
- Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
- Rinse the tiles after showering
We will tell you when the area can be used again. Please follow it, and go gently on the grout at first.
Fixing grout early is a small job. Left for a few years, they can become a leak, so get it looked at when you notice it.
What we do, step by step
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The work itself takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, including the tidy-up. Outdoor work around Footdee depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors is not affected.
- First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
- Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
- We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
- New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
- We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any parking rules near the property
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks

When to call us in Footdee
Soap scum and limescale build up on grout and stick to it. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, which is when replacing it makes sense.
The most common problems we see are:
- Cracked or crumbling grout lines
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Grout washed out of a shower
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
For an older house near a landmark such as St Fittick's Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
