Bathroom resealing across HA4: what to expect
A reseal only lasts if the joint is properly prepared. Every bit of old silicone comes out, down to the thin film left on the tiles, then the joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould. Only once it’s dry does the new bead go on. The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
