Bathroom resealing in Evie
Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Evie. We’re fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and every job carries our 12-month guarantee. We work on wet rooms, kitchen worktops & upstands and basins & vanity units, and people most often call us about lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt and a reseal done over the top of the old bead.
Bathrooms in smaller places like Evie work just as hard as those in the cities. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after we have gone.

What we cannot put right
Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we’ll tell you before we start. Sealant will not put right:
- A tray or bath that’s cracked through
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Evie
Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- The product the joint needs
- The amount of work
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- How easy the joints are to reach
Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You’ll know the price before we begin.
What we need to know
When you contact us, these details help:
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- The rough size of the job
The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and add pictures by email if you can.
Do you need bathroom resealing in Evie?
Not every tube in the shop is meant for a shower. Decorators’ caulk and all-purpose sealants are not made for constant wetting, so they stain, crack or go mouldy before long. A bathroom joint needs anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Look out for any of the following:
- Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
- Black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off
In and around Evie, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.
What to look for in a quote
- What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
- How much experience the applicator has
- What product goes in the joint
- How long the guarantee is
How to look after the new joints
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. We recommend:
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
- Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
- Dry the bead with a towel now and then
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
Have a look at the joints every few months. A small split or a corner lifting is easy to spot, so if something doesn’t look right, just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Sealant is a maintenance item, like the paint on a window frame, and replacing it when it fails protects the rest of the room.
The process
A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, do the work and clear up. Most jobs take a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. In smaller Scottish places, parking is normally less of an issue than access and distance. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.
- We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks

It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we’ll talk you through what we’d do. When it suits you, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Different surfaces, different methods
Wet rooms
If a wet room leaks, the cause may be the tanking or the drain rather than the joints. We check the joints and say so if the fault looks to be elsewhere.
Baths
Acrylic baths flex the most, while steel and cast iron baths move less but still settle when full. Loading the bath with water before sealing allows for it.
Leave it or put it right?
The difference in a professional reseal is mostly what you don’t see: cutting out every trace of the old bead, cleaning, treating mould and letting the joint dry. Skip those steps and even the best silicone fails early. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.
The cost depends on how much there is to do, how much old material has to come out and access to the work. We give a clear quote before we start.

Bathroom resealing around Evie
Evie is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.
Whether the job is in Evie itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.
Evie is about 11 miles north-west of Kirkwall, in the Orkney Islands. Evie gets the same service as everywhere we cover: old sealant removed completely, careful preparation and a one-year guarantee. Evie is one of 51 towns and villages in the Orkney Islands where we work for bathroom resealing.

Common questions in Evie
Will you come out to Evie?
Yes. Evie is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across all of Scotland, including the islands, where work is planned around ferry crossings. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
What guarantee comes with bathroom resealing in Evie?
All our work, in Evie and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
How long does a bath or shower reseal take?
That depends on the number of joints and the state of the old sealant. Allow a couple of hours for a typical bath or shower.
Where are you based?
We work from Crawley. Our applicators cover Evie.
What does bathroom resealing cost?
Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Ask us for a quote.
How long before the new sealant can get wet?
Around 24 hours is typical, and we confirm the time for the product used. Using it sooner can damage the bead.
Do I need to be at home?
We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.
Is it worth trying it myself?
You can, for simple jobs. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.
