Regrouting in Hove
Our applicators work in Hove on raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old sealant removed completely, joints prepared properly.
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
How it works
You don’t need to clear the whole room or building before we come, just the space around the work. Everything nearby is protected, and the job takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room for a typical job. For a job in Hove, we need access to where the work is and somewhere nearby to park. If the job is outside, mention gates, side access and anything above ground floor.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.
Getting ready for the visit
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
How to get a quote

Regrouting in Hove
We take the old grout out to a consistent depth, taking care not to chip the tile edges. The joints are then vacuumed, regrouted and cleaned off, with silicone renewed in the corners. We are often asked to deal with crumbling grout between the tiles and grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned, across shower walls, tiled floors and wet rooms.
Around Hove, it’s mostly busy family bathrooms and kitchens, which is hard on sealant and grout. Black mould along the bath, a lifting bead by the sink or crumbling grout in the shower are the usual signs.

How the job changes by surface
Bathroom floors
If floor grout keeps cracking, the floor may be moving. We check the tiles before regrouting.
Corners and edges
We reseal edges at the same time as regrouting, so everything is renewed at once.
For landlords and businesses
Hotels need rooms back in use, so we plan the work room by room. We have worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
For anyone letting property in or around Hove, several properties can be quoted together. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs, and photos by email help.
Can I do it myself?
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.
Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.
What happens if it’s left?
Once grout cracks, water can get behind the tiling. Leave it, and the adhesive or the wall behind can suffer, and then you are looking at retiling. Sorting it early keeps the job simple. Around Hove, failed sealant lets water into hidden places, such as under the floor, behind a panel or into a wall. Whatever the joint, failed sealant only gets worse.
The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask about the job first.

What regrouting looks like in Hove
Hove is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
If you look after a building such as St Andrew's CofE (Aided) Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Letting a property close to Hove station? Then stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right. If you live in an older home near Holy Trinity Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.
Hove is about 2 miles west of Brighton, in Brighton and Hove. Jobs in Hove get the same care as everywhere else we work: old sealant removed completely, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee. Hove is one of 30 towns and villages in Brighton and Hove where we work.
Work in BN3, BN1 and BN52 works the same way as everywhere else we cover. We cover properties on Farm Road, York Road and Aymer Road and the roads around them. We also cover Brighton and Hove (1 mile north-west), Brunswick (1 mile south-east), Aldrington (1 mile west), Prestonville (1 mile north-east) and West Blatchington (1 mile north). Hove questions
Do you work for landlords with property near Hove station?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details for a clear quote.
Do you work in hotels near Hove?
Yes, hospitality work, including hotels, is part of what we do. Work can be planned room by room, and out-of-hours working can be arranged.
Where do you work from?
Our base is in Crawley, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Yes. Just list everything you need and we will quote it together.
Can you regrout just the shower?
Yes, we often do. Shower grout tends to go before the rest, so it’s often the only area that needs doing.
How soon can the shower be used after regrouting?
It varies with the products and the room. We’ll tell you exactly how long when the job is done.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No. Fresh sealant does not stick to old sealant, and anything trapped underneath, including mould and water, stays there. We remove it all first.
What affects the quote in Hove
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- Working hours on commercial sites
- Which sealant suits the joint
- The amount of work
- How many areas need sealing
No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part.
Asking for a quote
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:
- The rough size of the job
- The type of property
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- How we’d reach the joints
To get a quote, call 0345 464 0079 or email us with the location and a short description of the problem. You’ll have a clear quote before work begins.
