Bathrooms and kitchens in Hove
Hove is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Hove. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room.
In the older streets around Holy Trinity Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Rented homes near Hove station change hands often, and failed or mouldy sealant is worth putting right between tenancies, before it turns into a leak.

About our remedial sealant in Hove
If a joint fails again and again, something is causing it. Movement, the wrong product or a leak from somewhere else will beat any new bead. Finding that cause comes before any new sealant. Typical jobs include thick, messy sealant smeared over tiles and kitchen joints letting water behind the worktop, across failed movement joints, shrunken worktop sealant and leaking tray & enclosure joints.
Hove mixes older houses with estates built more recently, and bathrooms range from decades-old suites to brand-new ones. Whatever their age, sealant and grout tend to go before anything else.
You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

What happens on the day
On the day, we start by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. We protect the surfaces around the joints before any work begins. The work usually takes a few hours, depending on how many layers have to come out. For a job in Hove, we need access to where the work is and somewhere nearby to park. For outside work, let us know about side access, gates and any upper-floor joints.
- We start by checking the joint for movement, leaks and the reason it failed.
- All the old sealant comes out, including any layers underneath.
- We clean the joint, treat any mould and let it dry.
- Where the joint moves, backing and a flexible sealant suited to the movement go in.
- Finally we finish the joint and talk you through what we found.
Before we arrive
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- Mention any tricky access

Advice
How to look after the new joints
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Act on a lifting corner right away
- Check ceilings under showers for marks
- Report a tray that rocks or a worktop that lifts
- Keep the room well ventilated
Clean gently: no scraping, scouring pads or harsh chemicals.
Signs to act on: peeling layers, mould showing through the bead, leaks after showering or cracks in a movement joint. Any of them means it’s time for remedial work.

What happens if it’s left?
Stripping out botched sealant adds time to a reseal, but rarely a lot: the work takes a few hours for a typical bath or shower, longer where several layers have been applied. It’s far less disruption than resealing the same joint again and again. Around Hove, failed sealant lets water into hidden places, like the floor under a bath, the back of a panel or the inside of a wall. Whatever the joint, failed sealant only gets worse.
Leaving a failed joint generally makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will give you an honest view and a quote.

Hove questions
Is Hove in your area for remedial sealant?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Hove is part of that. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Hove station?
Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us about the property, and we will send you a clear quote.
My shower still leaks after a reseal. Can you sort it?
Yes. We check it’s the sealant and not the tray, valve or waste, then the joints are stripped and resealed.
Is remedial work guaranteed?
Yes, with our one-year guarantee. Where we’ve flagged another fault, it needs fixing for the joint to last.
Can you take off two layers of silicone?
Yes. Both layers come out; new silicone does not bond to old silicone, which is why over-sealing fails.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Always. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, and it’s something we never do.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes, regularly. We can plan bigger jobs in stages to suit the site.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are fully insured.
What affects the quote in Hove
The price is agreed before any work begins. It takes into account:
- How easy the joints are to reach
- Which sealant suits the joint
- When we can work, for business premises
- How much there is to do
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.
What to tell us for a quote
When you call or email, these details help:
- A few photos by email, if you can
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- If someone has resealed it before
- How we’d reach the joints
Call for a quick quote, or send an email if you’d rather. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we will explain what’s involved before giving you a price.
Do you need remedial sealant in Hove?
One of the commonest remedial jobs is sealant on top of sealant. New silicone cannot stick to the old bead, so the new layer peels, and damp and mould settle between them.
The problems people usually mention when they call are:
- Torn expansion joints
- Caulk or the wrong sealant used in a wet area
- Kitchen joints letting water behind the worktop
- Wide, uneven beads that look worse than the old ones
Schools such as St Andrew's CofE (Aided) Primary School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

What sealant work cannot fix
It helps to know what we can’t do:
- Sealant in an older building that needs testing for asbestos first
- Failed tanking or loose tiles behind the sealant
- A tray or worktop that needs refixing first
Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Different surfaces, different methods
Leaking trays & enclosures
Where the joints are the problem, every bead is stripped and resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, tray edges and screen profiles included.
Mouldy bath & shower sealant
Repeat mould normally points to a damp, poorly aired room. We will reseal and tell you if extraction looks to be the issue.
