Bathroom resealing in Hemsted

A fresh bead of silicone changes how a bathroom looks more than most people expect. Mouldy silicone makes even a new bathroom look neglected, and a neat new joint puts that right in a short visit. Just as important, it closes the gaps water would otherwise get through. If you have black spots spreading through the bead and smears of silicone across the tiles, we can put it right, whatever the surface.

In a village or hamlet like Hemsted, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

A 12-month guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Bathroom resealing around Hemsted

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Stowting Church of England Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

When something else is needed

Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we’ll tell you before any work starts. Sealant won’t put right:

  • A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve

If you are not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer.

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • How much there is to do
  • The type of sealant required

Doing several joints on one visit is usually more efficient than separate visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.

Asking for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:

  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • The rough size of the job

For a quote, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the location and a short description of the problem. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.

What the job involves on each surface

Shower trays & enclosures

Water often gets past the wall profile of a shower enclosure. It’s resealed along with the tray joints, following the enclosure maker’s guidance on which side to seal.

Wet rooms

Wet room floors move slightly as they’re used, so the internal corners need silicone rather than grout. Where grout in a corner has cracked, we can replace it with sealant.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Hemsted?

Older sealant shrinks and hardens. In kitchens it often shrinks away from the back edge, opening a hairline gap that lets water and crumbs in. Heat from the hob and strong sprays speed it along.

The most common problems we see are:

  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
  • Black spots spreading through the bead
  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved

Letting a property close to Westenhanger station? Then fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

What your quote should include

  • How hidden problems are handled
  • Which colour the sealant will be
  • Is the old sealant removed completely?
  • How the surfaces are prepared before sealing

10 questions to ask before booking

Questions from Hemsted

Is Hemsted in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes, Hemsted is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing.

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Westenhanger station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before work begins.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes, by replacing the sealant. Cleaning products may lighten it, but the lasting fix is new anti-fungal silicone on a clean, treated joint. Good ventilation helps keep it away.

Are you insured?

Yes. We are fully insured, and we can confirm the details when we quote.

What colours of sealant can you use?

There’s a choice: white, clear and colours to suit tiles and worktops. We can help you pick when we quote.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done and we’ll quote it together.

Will it make a mess?

We keep the work tidy. We protect what’s around the joints.

Where are you based?

We are a Crawley-based firm, with over 20 years’ experience. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Aftercare tips

How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Do not leave water standing on kitchen joints
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
  • Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade

Clean the silicone with care: warm soapy water and a soft cloth do the job. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, because a damaged bead gives mould a foothold.

Each shower pushes a little more water through a failed joint. Left alone, it soaks into the floor, the wall behind the tiles or the ceiling below. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.

The process

The work is kept neat and contained to the joints we are treating. The job normally takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. Somewhere as small as Hemsted, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
