About our bathroom resealing in Faversham

Homes in Faversham have the same weak spots as anywhere else: bath edges, tray joints, basin backs and kitchen upstands. Each one is stripped, cleaned and dried before new silicone goes in. We work on baths, basins & vanity units and sinks & splashbacks, and people most often call us about sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away and water escaping at the shower enclosure.

Around Faversham, it’s mostly busy family bathrooms and kitchens, which is hard on sealant and grout. Black mould along the bath, a lifting bead by the sink or crumbling grout in the shower are the usual signs.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are covered after we’ve gone.

Faversham: your questions answered

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Faversham station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before any work starts.

Do you work in hotels near Faversham?

Yes. Hotel and guest-house work is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.

Do the sealants smell?

Sometimes, a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.

How long before the new sealant can get wet?

We give you the cure time before we leave, and it’s usually around 24 hours. Using it sooner can damage the bead.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status, and we are fully insured.

Do I need to be at home?

If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Where are you based?

Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. Our applicators cover Faversham, along with the rest of our area.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Yes. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.

What we cannot put right

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve

If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we seal

  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Sinks & splashbacks

Looking after it afterwards

Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
  • Give the silicone its full cure time
  • Don’t let bottles sit on the bead
  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing

Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.

Watch for the early signs: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. Any of these means the joint needs attention.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

What the job involves on each surface

Wet rooms

In a wet room, the joints between floor and walls take standing water. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, working on the surface joints, not the tanking or drainage.

Shower trays & enclosures

The vertical joint where a screen profile meets the wall is a common leak point. We reseal it along with the base of the enclosure, sealing the side the enclosure’s instructions call for.

The process

The work is kept neat and contained to the joints we are treating, so you can get on with your day. Expect the work to take half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. For a job in Faversham, we need access to where the work is and somewhere nearby to park. For outside work, let us know about side access, gates and any upper-floor joints.

  1. We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
  3. Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, normally after around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Clear items away from the joints we are working on
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Tell us if parking is tricky

Bathroom resealing around Faversham

Faversham is within about 3 miles of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary Magdalene, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. • Any working-time requirements on site
