How we handle bathroom resealing in Durlock

Kitchens need the same care as bathrooms. The joint between worktop and wall, the edge of the sink and the bottom of the splashback get wet every single day, and water that gets into the back edge of a worktop can swell the board. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. If you are dealing with leaking joints on a shower screen and black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off, we can help.

In a village or hamlet like Durlock, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same 12-month guarantee in Durlock and across Kent.

Can I do it myself?

Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

FAQs for Durlock

Is Durlock in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Durlock is part of that. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear price.

Do you work for landlords with property near Sandwich station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. You can call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the details for a clear quote.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. We are approved under the ARBOMaster scheme, the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants.

Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?

No, and it’s one of the main reasons reseals fail. We cut out all of the old sealant, clean the joint and start again.

Does someone need to be in?

It depends on the job. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.

Should I try DIY first?

Sometimes. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is normally more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

Are you insured?

Yes. We’re fully insured, and we’ve been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.

Why deal with it now?

Leaving a split or mouldy bead only stores up trouble. Once water is behind the bath, it can reach floorboards, panels and the ceiling underneath, and that is a far bigger job than a reseal. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Durlock, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, as water and mould keep getting in. If you are unsure, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.

How to look after the new joints

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade
  • Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop

Mould needs damp, so keep the room aired. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the bead dries out between uses.

Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.

Honest limits

Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant won’t put right:

  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve
  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Do you need bathroom resealing in Durlock?

No sealant lasts indefinitely. Daily water, heat and cleaning products slowly wear it down, so its life depends on how the room is used, cleaned and aired.

Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:

  • Gaps between the worktop and the wall
  • Black spots spreading through the bead
  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
  • Water getting behind the bath panel

If you look after a building such as Ash Cartwright and Kelsey Church of England Primary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

What your quote should include

  • What product goes in the joint
  • What happens if the job turns out different
  • When the joint can take water or movement
  • Whether you can choose the colour

Bathroom resealing in Durlock: local notes

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

Letting a property close to Sandwich station? Then a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. If you live in an older home near Church of St Nicholas, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

Durlock is about 7 miles north-west of Deal, in Kent. Wherever you are in the CT3 postcode area, our applicators can take on bathroom resealing. Durlock is one of 922 towns and villages in Kent where we work. There’s also a page for Chelmsford, roughly 46 miles from Durlock.

How it works

There’s no need to move everything out, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the work takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is for a typical job. Somewhere like Durlock needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Preparing for the visit

  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
