Regrouting near St George's Fields

Regrouting for homes and businesses in St George's Fields

Stained, crumbling or cracked grout can make a sound bathroom look tired. With regrouting, the tiles stay and only the grout is renewed, so nothing is ripped out. If you’re dealing with splashback grout that has darkened and good tiles let down by tired grout, we can put it right.

Hard London water leaves limescale on sealant, grout and taps alike. For a bathroom or kitchen in St George's Fields, getting the joints right keeps water where it belongs and the room looking clean.

All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months.

How we quote for regrouting

Call for a quick quote. The main things that affect it are:

  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • Access and height

Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You’ll know the price before we begin.

What to tell us for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:

  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email

Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand.

What we cannot put right

In fairness, some problems need a different trade:

  • Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
  • Damaged tiles that need replacing
  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind

If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Tiled floors
  • Bathroom floors
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower walls

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

Looking after it afterwards

Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:

  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
  • Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
  • Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
  • Stick to mild products for cleaning grout

Give the new grout the time we tell you before using the shower, so it can harden properly. From then on, a quick rinse after showering helps and let the room air.

Tiles can come away if failed grout is left. Once that happens, regrouting will not fix it, so it’s worth acting early.

What we do, step by step

Good joint work is mostly preparation, so that’s where we spend the time. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. In total, it generally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. For a job in St George's Fields, parking and access are the things to plan: tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space, which floor we are working on and whether there’s a lift.

  1. We start by checking the tiles for any that are loose or hollow.
  2. The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
  3. Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
  4. We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
  5. We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.

How to prepare

  • Mention any tricky access
  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • Clear items away from the joints we’re working on

Common questions in St George's Fields

Do you work in hotels near St George's Fields?

Yes, hospitality work, including hotels, is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.

Do you work for landlords with property near Elephant & Castle station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can be quoted together. Just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

We generally do. Fresh grout next to old, mouldy silicone would look odd and could still leak.

How long will you be here?

That depends on how much there is to do, but most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. We will give you a better idea when we quote.

Where are you based?

We’re based in Crawley, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Is regrouting a chance to pick a new grout colour?

Yes, regrouting is the time to do it. Tell us the colour you’d like when you ask for a quote.

What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?

Corners get silicone, not grout. They move slightly and grout cannot take that movement.

When can I use the shower again?

It varies with the products and the room. We will tell you exactly how long when the job is done.

What happens if it’s left?

New grout smeared over the old does not bond well. It sits thinly on top and soon flakes away, taking any repair with it. Removing the old grout to an even depth lets the new grout key in properly. Damp from a failed joint spreads quietly in older London brickwork and timber, and by the time it shows on a wall or ceiling in St George's Fields, the repair is bigger than the sealant job would have been.

What it costs depends on how much there is to do, how hard the old material is to remove and how easy the joints are to reach. We give a clear quote before we start.

Shower walls

Tiles away from the shower stay drier but still stain and crack. Regrouting brings them back in line.
