What we do, step by step

We keep the work tidy and contained to the joints we’re treating, so you can carry on as normal. The job usually takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, and we explain the cure time before we leave. In smaller Scottish places, parking is normally less of an issue than access and distance. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust is cleared from every joint.
  4. We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
  5. Internal corners and edges are resealed.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks

Regrouting for homes and businesses in Gott

Our applicators rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care not to chip the tile edges. The joints are then vacuumed, regrouted and cleaned off, and the corners get fresh silicone. Typical jobs include dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor and kitchen splashback grout stained by grease, on tiled floors, kitchen splashbacks and wet rooms.

In and around a place like Gott, homes range from older stone-built properties to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

How we quote for regrouting

We do not publish a price list, because no two jobs are the same. The quote depends on:

  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • Which sealant suits the joint

The cost reflects the work involved, not guesswork. That’s why we ask a few questions first and give you a clear quote before any work starts.

What to tell us for a quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • Where the property is
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel

The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is.

Why act early in Gott

Cracked grout lets water behind the tiles. Leave it, and the adhesive or the wall behind can suffer, and then you’re looking at retiling. Dealing with it now keeps it small. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.

What it costs depends on the amount of work, how hard the old material is to remove and how easy the joints are to reach. You will have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

Gott: your questions answered

Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Gott?

Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Will you come out to Gott?

Yes, we do. We work across all of Scotland, islands included, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Is regrouting a chance to pick a new grout colour?

It can. Because the old grout is raked out, the new colour goes all the way into the joint, not just the surface.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. We work in offices, washrooms, hotels and other commercial premises. We can talk about working times when we quote.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. As well as homeowners, we work for landlords, agents, businesses and hotels in Gott.

Is it worth trying it myself?

Sometimes. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. If it doesn’t work out, we can redo it.

What do you put in the joint?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, picked for each joint. We’ll tell you what we’re using and why.

What should I tell you?

Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Gott

From a single let to a portfolio, you get the same standard of work: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Gott

Gott is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

In and around Gott, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint. For jobs in and around Gott, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish.

DIY versus a professional finish

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

How to look after the new joints

Looking after new joints is easy:

  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly
  • Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
  • Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
  • Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout

Leave the area unused for as long as we advise, so it cures fully. From then on, a quick rinse after showering helps and let the room air.

Stains that will not clean are a sign the grout is breaking down. Regrouting at this stage is straightforward, before the joints open up.

What sealant work can’t fix

We’d rather tell you now than do work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Damaged tiles that need replacing
  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind

Not sure which it is? You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly.
