Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Gott, Shetland Islands
Bathroom resealing in Gott from a team with over 20 years’ experience. 180+ five-star Google reviews and a 4.9 rating.
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
- Smears of silicone across the tiles
What happens if it’s left?
A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Once water is behind the bath, it can reach floorboards, panels and the ceiling underneath, turning a small job into a building repair. In a place like Gott, small leaks are easy to put off, but water through a failed joint keeps working away until it’s fixed.
Doing several joints on one visit is usually more efficient than separate visits. We’ll give you a clear price for the lot.

How we handle bathroom resealing in Gott
We fill the bath before sealing it. A full bath sits slightly lower than an empty one, so the bead is not stretched the first time someone gets in. Quick jobs often leave it out, and it makes a real difference. We work on shower trays & enclosures, sinks & splashbacks and kitchen worktops & upstands, and common reasons people get in touch are splits where the tray meets the wall and leaks into the floor or ceiling below.
Bathrooms in smaller places like Gott work just as hard as those in the cities. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

Gott questions
Will you come out to Gott?
Yes. Gott is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, including the islands, where work is planned around ferry crossings. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Do you cover Gott for bathroom resealing?
Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Gott is part of that. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Yes. Just list everything you need and you will get one quote.
Will you leave a mess?
Tidy work is part of the job. Nearby surfaces are protected, and the area is left clean when we finish.
Do you guarantee your resealing?
Yes, a 12-month guarantee. Looking after the joint as we suggest helps it last.
Can mouldy silicone be sorted out?
Yes. Once mould has grown into the silicone, it generally cannot be cleaned out for good, so the bead comes out, the joint is treated and new anti-fungal silicone goes in.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure your landlord agrees.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We are approved under the ARBOMaster scheme.
Should I try it myself first?
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, then guaranteed for a year.
Gott homes and their sealant
Gott is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out.
Whether the job is in Gott itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish. Around Gott, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.
Gott is in the Shetland Islands. Jobs in Gott get the same care as everywhere else we work: old sealant removed completely, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee. We cover 63 towns and villages across the Shetland Islands.

Other services in Gott
For landlords and businesses
Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s easy to sort out between tenants. Several properties can go on one quote.
Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a one-year guarantee.
What happens on the day
Good joint work is mostly preparation, so that’s where we spend the time. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. Outdoor work around Gott depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.
- First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed.
- We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
- We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
- New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
- We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, generally after around 24 hours.

Advice
How we quote for bathroom resealing
For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:
- How easy the joints are to reach
- The product the joint needs
- The number and length of the joints
- How many areas need sealing
A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.
Asking for a quote
When you call or email, these details help:
- Photos by email, if that is easy
- Whether it has been sealed before
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
For a quote, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. We will send you a clear quote before any work starts.
What we can’t put right
We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
- Failed grout lines across the wall
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
If in doubt, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think before booking.

Aftercare tips
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. We recommend:
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
- Move toiletries away from the joint
- Wait for the cure time we give you
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
Mould needs damp, so keep the room aired. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the bead dries out between uses.
There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Like paintwork, sealant needs renewing from time to time, and renewing it as soon as it fails protects everything around it.
