Landlord and commercial work in Gott
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. We’ve worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. Resealing between tenancies keeps a property looking cared for before the next move-in.
What we do, step by step
At the end, we look at the finished work together and explain the cure time. The visit itself normally takes a few hours for a single washroom, longer for a whole building, depending on the size of the job. For a place like Gott, longer drives are planned in advance. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- We start by looking at the rooms and agreeing what’s needed.
- Working hours are agreed, including early starts or out-of-hours work where it can be arranged.
- Areas are protected and the failed sealant removed.
- Once dry, every joint is resealed and tooled.
- Housekeeping or site staff are told when each area can be used.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Let us know about parking restrictions

FAQs for Gott
Do you cover smaller places like Gott?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, including the islands, where work is planned around ferry crossings. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Is Gott in your area for commercial sealant?
Yes, Gott is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.
Do I have to be there?
If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. Once we’ve agreed the job, you don’t need to watch us work.
Where do you work from?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. We cover Gott and the rest of the Shetland Islands, along with the rest of our area.
Is it worth trying it myself?
Sometimes. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. If it doesn’t work out, we can redo it.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No. We remove every bit of old sealant first, so the new sealant bonds properly.
Does commercial work come with a guarantee?
Yes, with our 12-month guarantee. Mild cleaning and good ventilation help it last.
What should I tell you?
The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.

Aftercare tips
Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:
- Plan resealing around quiet periods
- Leave squeegees in busy showers
- Keep a record of which rooms were resealed and when
- Ask cleaners to go gently on the silicone
Strong chemicals and scourers wear silicone out faster. Ask cleaners to use mild products and soft cloths on the sealant, with stronger products kept off the bead.
Mould in shared washrooms gets noticed and talked about. The longer it’s left, the deeper it grows into the silicone, so the fix is replacement.
Signs you need commercial sealant in Gott
In office kitchens and tea points, joints are wet and wiped all day, and grease and cleaning sprays break down sealant. The worktop and sink edges generally fail first.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- Mouldy washroom sealant that staff and guests notice
- Tired sealant in let properties
- Tired sealant ahead of a health and safety audit
- Large numbers of bathrooms needing the same work
Around Gott, as everywhere, commercial sealant is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Honest limits
It helps to know what we can’t do:
- Assessing what fire stopping a building needs
- Faulty shower valves and leaking traps
- Damaged sanitaryware that needs replacing
Not sure which it is? You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly.
What we seal
- Hotel bathrooms
- Welfare facilities
- Retail & leisure sites
- Student & care accommodation
- Office washrooms & kitchens
- Rental portfolios
What happens if it’s left?
Sealing over the old bead can seem the fastest option, but silicone does not bond to silicone, so it lifts. Doing it properly once is less disruptive than doing it badly twice. Around Gott, water from a failed joint in an older stone home can soak into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
Why us?
- We never seal over old sealant
- Over 20 years’ experience
- Every job guaranteed for a year
- Full insurance on every job
